At about 3 weeks of age I removed all dairy from my diet to help with baby's fussiness, and after about two weeks I started to notice a difference. DD is 2 months old now, and I'm wondering if I should try some sheep's mils or goat's milk cheese, but I don't want to trigger a two-week long bout of colic. I know that people who are lactose intolerant can usually tolerate these things, along with lactose-free milk/ ice cream etc. But if baby dairy intolerance is a casein issue, then NO milk products of any kind would be O.K.

Does anyone know if "typical" infant dairy sensitivity from breastmilk is a lactose or a casein issue? I know the only real way to find out would be to try, but if chances are good that it's a casein issue, I don't want to put baby through the 2 weeks of pain while waiting for one goat cheese pizza to leave my system! KWIM??
