Make calendula/lanolin ointment at home?

I have read calendula ointments can be healing for cuts and minor wounds.  I make a calendula "lotion" with water and calendula tincture per Miranda Castro's homeopathy books.  But I wonder can you also make your own ointment?  I'm thinking simply mix a few drops of the calendula tincture with pure lanolin to apply to minor wounds?  Anyone done this?  Is there a reason NOT to do this?  Thanks!

Here's a quick, easy method for making Herbal Salves that I use.

I adjust the herbal infusions to suit my needs, but you can make any kind of salve this way.
