Ovulation cramps??

So I started my period the 14th of this month (May) and today I have had horrible cramps!! Could they be ovulation cramping? I can't remember ever having cramps during ovulation before but I know it's possible I just thought I would get some of your input. I just started TTC and have had 2 kids.

Thanks so much!!

I've read that it is indeed possible to have cramping leading up to and just after ovulation. Since my cycles have come back after having DD I have had cramping around O each month (lines up with positive opk and ewcm) - I didn't have it previously. I've decided to take it as a good sign of a strong ovulation winky.gif

In TCOYF she mentions cramping around the time of ovulation from irritation of the abdominal lining (from remaining follicular fluid) and/or contractions in the fallopian tubes.   Totally normal.

I almost always have clear ovulation pain and I wouldn't characterize it as horrible, in my experience. Until my pregnancy I always had horrible AF cramps (I passed out on a number of occasions!) but never with o. On one or two occasions (among the years) I considered taking pain medication for o pain but it always went away before I did. Most of the time it is a distinct type of sensation, like a kind of pressure and dull ache. Other times it feels more crampy, life AF cramps but always off to one side. It usually lasts a short time (15 minutes to an hour) but sometimes a few hours.

If you had sharp pain and don't usually feel ovulation, it may have been an ovarian cyst rupturing - sounds scary but it's usually nothing to worry about. But, definitely get in checked out if your intuition tells you. I hope all is fine! I hope this is helpful!

Thank you so much : ) Luckily an hour after I posted I was feeling much better! I would compare the cramps I was having to those you have in early labor, that were a bit intense but not so bad you were doubling over in pain. I am doing better today, still not feeling my best but better. I think I have to remember that when I don't feel good I need to take it easy with houswork and my other kiddo's especially since I suffer from some back pain too. So these cramps have been a good reminder to relax a bit!

Taking Charge of Your Fertility- one of the best books to read to get going with charting.  Highly, highly recommend it; so enlightening!!  thumb.gif

I don't get cramps, but I do get achy in that area.  I can definitely tell when I'm about to ovulate.
