BTDT mamas is there a correlation between AF nursing and pregnant and nursing?

I want to start TTC soon but am worried about my supply drying up so we want to wait until DD is at least 2 y/o. I never missed AF after my 6 weeks of PP bleeding...my supply always dipped with AF but now that DD is older (but still nursing like a newborn really..) my supply drops a lot when AF is in town. She flips out and it is a hellish week.

I am wondering if b/c I have such a high supply drop with AF if I will have a high supply drop/dry up when pregnant. Is there a correlation?

Well, I don't know about any studies about this, but I can give my experience.  I got PPAF when DD1 was 14 months old.  I had a small supply dip (and tender nipples etc) each month.  I got pregnant with DD2 when DD1 was 17 months old (so I had only 1 real cycle between).  I had a huge supply dip when I got pregnant (even before my BFP).  It stayed very low until DD2 was born.  We nursed through it and are tandem nursing fine though.

Seems like the luck of the draw.  SIL had great supply through her pregnancy, mine was gone at 3.5 weeks.  I think you have to be OK with your supply going away and your DC possibly weaning.

Good luck.

Just my anecdata--I never "missed" AF after my pp bleeding stopped either, and I do believe I had a supply dip  just before and during AF (but it wasn't measurable by pumping, which was always low). I got pregnant when DS was about 20 mos. My supply seemed just about like normal till the 2nd tri and then I pumped while DS was away and got absolutely not a drop. I'm pretty sure it's completely gone now (I'm 24 weeks). DS is 26 mos now and still nursing (and getting nothing, I assume). I've read Hillary Flowers *Adventures in Tandem Nursing*, and don't recall that she found any way to predict what will happen to your supply, except to say that the majority of women will lose it while pregnant but some will keep it. Also, I believe she says babies of less than a year are MORE likely to wean b/c of the supply drop than an older toddler.

I know I will *most likely* lose it I guess I was just trying to see if there was a correlation to be more prepared. DD has some allergies and I am nervous that no milk would lead to some issues for her. (like a more severe reaction)
