Nursing Mamas TTC June - Page 3

Hi mamas, I guess I belong to the - waiting to catch the first pp egg - category. biggrinbounce.gif

DD is almost 18 months and no ppaf yet.  I was enjoying it until this month when I realized I'm really very much ready for another one and it probably won't happen without my good old friend af. Sheepish.gif  I bf dd at least 1x during night (usually more), and a lot of times during the day, pretty much every 3-4hrs during the day, sometimes less, sometimes more.  She eats well but loves her nummies!  I will try and limit feedings but don't want to wean her just yet.

Not to mention, as much as I want another one, I feel guilty! headscratch.gif

What would cervix be like at this time (no ppaf yet)?  Soft, not so much, high, low or does it vary from one woman to another?

Hi Ladies!

I would love to join you.  DH and I are on our 9th cycle TTC #2.  Our DD just turned 3 and is (still) nursing.  We got pregnant with her so easily, I am getting discouraged that we've had to work so hard at #2.  I was uplifted when I found this group (stalked y'all during May) and I am eager to hear about your trials, learning experiences, and, mostly, your successes!

We are in the 2WW right now...

Still waiting to O. My temps are all over the place, so I have no idea what's going on (CD 79 now). DS (18 months) only nurses 3x a day, and I'm not willing to give up any of them yet (plus, I don't know how- orngtongue.gif). I'm intrigued by Vitex, but I'm extremely overwhelmed by all the different information out there and don't know what to do. I'm all ears for any advice!

Hi there! Please add me to "waiting to be ready". We're not yet actively trying, but are starting to think about trying soon. My ds is 14 months and still nursing frequently. I have no AF yet, so yeah. There's that.

Congrats to all those with the good news! joy.gif I lurked a little bit in May.

boomer - WELCOME!!  I believe your cervix would be fluctuating very much at this time.  Possibly softening/rising then hardening/dropping repeatedly as your body prepares to ovulate..until it finally does.

jips - WELCOME!!  I have a 3yo nurser too smile.gif   ...and am also in the 2WW

imavera - I took Vitex this cycle (after my previous cycle of 135 days)  I did not notice a dip in my supply, which I heard could occur.  If I'm not PG now, I will continue taking it next cycle as well.  GL!

MamaofLiam - WELCOME!!

Jips I understand how hard it is when number one comes quick an number two doesn't!! My son we got pg the first month we tried. With number two it took 5-6mo then we suffered a miscarriage and 5 months after that I finally got my BFP again!! Hope this is your month!

TenzinsMama: we did convert the crib! DD thought it was very cool and for the first night she went from our bed to her bed for about 20 minutes. She would lay down on her 'new bed' and then giggle and say "noooo" in a playful voice and come back to our bed. lol It was pretty cute. I haven't tried putting her in it yet but she likes it to sit on and lay on in the mornings when I'm having a shower. It doesn't have a rail at all and I did some research and it seems that only certain rails are for converted cribs. I have some bed bumpers but they seem too big for the crib so we may just try a pool noodle. I love the idea of a mattress on the floor and that is definitely the next thing to try I think. DP isn't thrilled with the idea because our room is so small already but it wouldn't take any more room than the crib is right now! I'm glad to hear it's working for you...very encouraging :) We never offered DD a soother either and she only had a bottle a handful of times when I really needed a bit of a break.

Bugglette: love your colourful post :) We will definitely try DD in the converted toddler bed once we try nightweaning. If it doesn't work, then maybe the different bed will, and if it does work then maybe she'll like the bed as well :)

imavera: I have tried to do research on vitex and I get really confused. One thing that stands our for me (and this is purely anecdotal not personal experience) is that vitex will likely not be helpful if your cycles are already 'normal.' In those cases it can actually mess with things a bit. Nothing serious of course but just not helpful. That's why I've always avoided it. I'm still not 100% sure that I won't use it one day (we'll see what happens over the next few months) but I just don't know enough about it to feel comfortable.

Afm: I had a slight temp jump today so I think I may have indeed O'd yesterday! FF gave me crosshairs for CD18 but I don't think that's accurate. I think CD20, maybe even CD19 is more likely. So, I guess I am in the 2ww now! Wow.

Hcg numbers more than doubled in a 48 hour period. Little bean is growing right on track. The progesterone hopefully will keep things going in there! fingersx.gif

AF showed up in bed this morning. I would have been much more shocked if it hadn't showed up today, as our timing was nearly impossible this month.  I've decided that although I am having my period, I'm not ovulating.  What can you do to encourage ovulation?  Any suggestions?

What makes you think you 're not ovulating?

Well, temping is not effective because of early morning nursing, so I've been tracking CM, and there are no fertile signs.  My period has been exactly 33 days ever since I got it back, but no egg-white CM.  I saw a dr for something completely different last week, but she ordered the blood tests to check my hormone levels next month. Besides that, what else could it be?

..kay, that sounded desperate.  I'm not, I'm just trying to figure things out.  I have been pregnant 3 times (1 mc) and I got pregnant right away all three times, and I was nursing a much younger baby two of those times. I'm under a lot of stress, so that could be effecting things, but who knows?

I got my hcg levels back. They are good for my dates. My progesterone is very low though...typical for me. :( Am starting  prog. cream today and suppositories tomorrow. I have taken progesterone with both my previous pregnancies so hopefully everything will be okay. I should know if my hcg is doubling like it should by Friday afternoon. fingersx.gif I can't believe I may ACTUALLY be having another baby!

And for what it is worth...there have been strange little sighs. I asked my baby to send me a message that they were with me and doing good. I said I had no idea what kind of sign, just something. Today I found an actual message in a bottle at the beach with my boys and when I stopped at the bank, the teller gave me 3 suckers instead of 2 (for my 2 boys). hmmmm (I also had dreams that I was pregnant just before/around conception and "felt" that I was pregnant.) praying.gif

Those are awesome signs! Ok, i accidentally hit quote instead of multi, so now i have to go back and continue reading and catching up on the thread!

Ok caught up! But DS is inm arms and ready for a nap so I have to make this quick!!

.

Finally have internet so I'll be able to be on more! YAY! Please add me to waiting to O. I'm on CD 9 and should O next sunday IF my cycle returns to a 32 day again. Im having a REALLY hard time with temping, i try to do it all month even through AF but I just got over strep throat and my temps are all whacked out now and I'm afraid it's going to ruin my chart. CD 3-8 they ranged between 98.2-98.4 which is when i was sick and on AF. Today I dropped all the way to 97.1. It's getting really frustrating. I know a lot has to do with the fact that my room gets either really hot or really cold in the new house, this morning i was cold. Blah, just trying to do the best i can and know that i'll rely on O pain more heavily than temps to confirm O probably.

As far as night weaning, it was going good. Then DH had to go away for drill. He's gone last night through Sunday so it means DS is back in bed with me and of course he thinks the drive through is open all night. But what we ended up doing on monday was we set up the 'man cave' as dh refers to it. LOL. We have a twin mattress on the ground, DS's pack and play crib set up and the glider in there with his sound machine and night light. DH puts him to sleep and lays him in the crib and he sleep there till either 11 pm or 1 am. DH picks him up once he starts crying if patting him on his back and shushing him doesnt work. They walk for a few minutes and then rock in the glider and if he can, DH puts him back in the crib. If not, DS sleeps with DH until 5 am when he gets up for work. The first night he cried a few times but calmed down in DH's arms. So he went from 8 pm to 5 am with no nursing. 2nd night didn't go as well and at about 4 am he was inconsolable so DH brought him in for a nurse, 3rd night he went again from 8 to 5 am. Then last night DH left so he slept from about 8 to 1 am and then nursed 3 more times during the night. I think lol. No clue about the times. So after tonight DH will be back home and then he will be taking DS back and working on getting him night weaned. He turns a year on the 7th, so i don't feel guilty and since DH is wanting to continue co-sleeping i think it will work out. We will see!

Well I O'd 3 days ago, so you can add me to the 2ww.

I am pretty frustrated because our timing was bad, only 3 days before O and 1 day after. We had a lot of late bedtimes for dd and one night my dh was unavailable because of his game night. Grrrrr, I am determined that it go better next cycle. At least I O'd on cd 19, which is the earliest yet since dd. Things seem to be getting back on track and I have stopped all the supplements like the vitex, etc.

Congrats to Hildare!

carmen - Woot!  fingersx.gif

jennyv - hug2.gif    I never get EWCM, my most fertile CM is wet.  Also, in my last cycle, I had no fertile CM leading up to O...but there was definitely a clear thermal shift.  Have you tried temping for a cycle, and it didn't work out because of nursing?  I set my 'temping alarm' for about 30mins earlier than when DS usually wakes me up in the morning.  Sometimes he wakes up earlier and I'm not able to temp, but I get enough temps to know what's going on.  Or if by early morning, you mean like 1am....maybe just try temping when you wake up for the day and see what your chart looks like.

AKA Mommy - I wouldn't worry about the high temps while you were sick  They were early enough in your cycle, plus you said that your temp dropped down again today, that you should have no problems detecting your thermal shift.  Also, if the temps in your room fluctuate so much, you may want to switch to vaginal temping as you'll get more acurate results.  I temp vaginally but don't temp at all during AF....it's not necessary anyway.  I'm glad night-weaning was going so well for you!  Hopeully thinks continue positively when DH returns.

AimeeBaby - Yay for earlier O!  A friend of mine took Vitex for 6 months when she was TTC #2, and got pregnant the cycle she stopped taking it, lol.  So, fingersx.gif

greensad.gif Sorry to hear that. Have you had any testing done to confirm whether you are O'ing or not? Do you normally have ewcm when fertile?

Afm: I'm not crazy about my lame temp rise. It's definitely higher than pre-O but not great. I'm hoping I'm a slow riser this cycle. Although, when I had a slow rise before I ended up with 2 m/c...with my DD I had a nice big temp jump. I know every pregnancy is different though...

Hugs, naturegirl.  How scary!  Praying for you and the little one.

Jennyvangy, most people have longer cycles if they aren't ovulating.  It is possible that you could be ovulating without having EWCM.  The thing is that without EWCM, sperm cannot live as long, and it is hard to know when to BD.  Additionally, it is possible that you could be ovulating but have a short LP.  Temping would give you more information if you're not getting it from CM.  I know it's hard to temp with such a little baby, but it is the cheapest way to get some of these answers.  As to why it could be more difficult now, it could just be that you are older than you were the other times.  Additionally, it takes a lot to be growing and nursing babies in quick succession.  Your body may need to rebuild its nutrient supply.  Make sure you're eating a healthy diet of nutrient-rich foods and taking high quality supplements.  If you are underweight, consider gaining some weight.  If you are overweight, consider losing some.

Oh, naturegirl, sorry to hear about what's happened... you are in my thoughts.  Big hugs to you!!!!

You can add me :) Still nursing dd and recovering from a 8week loss. So I have no idea when I will O again, but we are just going to keep trying. I cant get my act together to chart- I never remember in the AM and its always crazy here that time of day. So fingers crossed for a sticky baby this month
