testing questions...

hi mamas!

my 21 month old has keratosis pilaris and i'm trying to get to the bottom of it... it seemed to respond well to cutting dairy.  i'm also suspecting soy, as she seems to have flare ups after meals with soy... i had gotten her skin pretty clear with cutting foods and applying apple cider vinegar nightly, and then she had a boca burger and she's flared up again...

i've noticed that many on the boards have been able to identify laundry lists their kids food sensitivities and i'm wondering what kind of testing has been done...?  through a naturopath?  allergist?  she had scratch tests done for milk and they came back negative... i don't think she's allergic, but intolerant/sensitive.  is there a way to identify her sensitive foods?  it's been very frustrating trying to play detective and changing our diet so much...

thanks, mamas!

We did IgG testing (blood) through our naturopathic doctor.  We see an allergist annually due to IgE allergies and have an epi pen but Jack was still "off" and reactive.  Seeing a naturopath helped us to heal his gut by eliminating some IgG sensitivities that we suspected but didn't show up on IgE testing (skin prick and RAST) and by adding in some gut healing supplements like digestive enzymes, probiotics, and amino acids.

Hope that helps!

we did intradermal testing through an Ear, Nose, and Throat/Environmental doctor (showed nothing for either child). Then we did ALCAT testing (allopath wrote a prescription but insurance still didn't pay for any of it) and it showed lots of foods (and we got a rotation diet to follow). It was very accurate for us. You can do pendulum/crystal testing as well. Some naturopaths do muscle testing as well.
