How old is your baby? Both of my kids' hair changed in texture towards the middle/end of the first year. My dd has the "good hair" but my ds, not so much, and we keep it cut super short. It just looks a mess when grown out.

Have you tried pure 100% coconut oil? I love it, it smells nice and it keeps the hair shiny. It also helps hair to grow faster. I am about to switch to using it for my dd....up til now I was using Just For Me, but her hair is changing again and now the just for me is a little too heavy. They do make something called hair milk (just for me brand) and I will probably get that for smoothing it out when I brush it into ponytails.

I've only used shampoo on my son's hair about three times since he was born. He is 3 years, 3 months now. We also only bathe him about once a week. If your child's hair is dry, I suggest cleaning it less :-). My son's hair is not oily at all, ever. A rinse with warm water makes it look a little better than it did before the rinse.

My dd has super fine, very short hair and gets her hair rinsed daily, but not a lot of shampooing. If anything, conditioner is used.

my lo is still very much a baldie but i have been reading about folks who just use a vinegar rinse (diluted) which is supposed to be very good.

We use just water to "wash" his hair unless it has something in it that needs a little more to get it out.
