Party favors ideas?

Hi,

I would like to make little bags with party favors for my 2 yr old's b'day party. The kids ages range from 2-4 yrs old. What are some of the things I can put in those bags? Please help with ideas. Thanks.

Is there a party theme? Maybe Finger puppets (easy to DIY), kaleidoscopes, magic wands, hacky sacks or balls?

Finger puppets are a great idea... I'm doing those as part of my DS' 2nd birthday favors. You could also do crayons or paints and mini coloring books. Targets dollar section always has mini terracotta growing kits that are fun. Kid size magnifying glasses go over pretty well in that age range too.

It's summer so bottles of bubbles and packs of sidewalk chalk. (Go ahead and get the sort that let kids just squeeze to pop up a wand, they actually suck, but will probably make the other parents happier.)

Whatever you do, wrap up at least one item in each bag to be a little present.

Another summer thing that DD's been asking for for awhile is sunglasses. (She's got 2 pairs from when I was a kid, but still asks about them every time we see some in a store.)

Oooo, and I think I might've seen hand fans (the sort with pretty pictures painted on them) at Target. They won't survive long, but they are crazy-good dress-up toys.

spinning tops, hacky sacks, bracelets or necklaces,  kaleidescopes, decks of cards (fun to make a mess out of), tiny plastic/wood/knit animals, flowers, large-ish pretty rocks or crystals

Thanks so much. Where can I get the stuff you guys have mentioned? Sorry I should have asked the question in the original post.

Well I made the finger puppets but the other stuff I mentioned in my post are things I see in the dollar sections at Target and Michaels (the craft store).

For ds's 2nd b-day I made beanbags.  They were a big hit!  We played bean bag games during the party and then everyone had a couple to take home with them.

I got that some can be obtained from Target - but what about the kaleidoscope?

I've seen kaleidoscope for cheap ($2) at World Market.

At that age, I like to skip the bags and just buy each kid one gift, displayed in an open bowl so they can pick. Let's you buy a better gift if you skip buying 2-4 and wrapping and the kids really like it. Also works well if you have an age range of guests.

Ideas that have worked: mini play dough, small wooden cars off etsy (pretty cheap in bulk), dover coloring books with 3 for 4 amazon discount, schliech animals or dinosuars, a couple pieces of train track tied with string, duplo people of the world (new or off ebay), older kids love the cheap "special" playmobil, or magic cabin party pack of fairy ribbon headbands.

I just did little treat bags for DD's 2nd - we had an art themed painting party so I wanted the treats to be on theme and be things they could use up, not junky little things that would stay in their house, kwim?

I put in:

-stickers

-sidewalk chalk

-glitter foam alphabet stickers

-a glowstick necklace

-a gel pen

-I made little recycled crayons out of our pile of old, broken crayon ends

I specifically designed the "treat bags" to be given when they ARRIVED and with stuff they could do to keep them occupied during the party! ;)
