Cold in adults that won't go away.

It's going around in town, at least for a month. DH caught it about 20 days ago and has been sick since, with a dry, hacking cough. I got it despite my best efforts (sodium ascorbate, high levels of D3), there was a low grade fever at first, then stuffed sinuses with nasty yellow, thick mucus and now a cough that tickles my throat annoyingly. I'm a little concerned that this might be pertussis going around. Isn't it supposed to be an annyoing cough in adults? DH has had the TDaP in 2008, I didn't. DS is partially vaccinated for it and I'm not concerned about him as he is nearly 3 years old, but DD is only 4 months and obviously we are selective/delayed vaccinators and don't start this early (6 months is the bare minimum for me). I'm really freaking out. I'm going in today to be looked at as quite frankly I'm sick of being sick and vitamins don't seem to help at all, neither does staying away from sugar and good hydration. I have had it for 12 days now and it is not getting better.

Do the symptoms look like WP to you? What else can we do to get rid of it?

Edit: DH just talked to his doctor (military) and he heard is cough and everything and feels it is not whooping cough, he knows the vaccine isn't protecting us from getting it as those cases in CA very often were vaccinated so he wouldn't rule it out when he would think of it. Anyways, I still would like to hear your opinion and I'm trying to be seen today too. I really do not like meds, but this has been going on far too long and I don't want to give it to DD and I'm so exhausted at this point it's hard to take care of the kids.

sorry you guys are sick!

It could be WC, it is hard to tell in adults. Without a swab, Im not sure you will know for sure and at this point it would probably come back negative anyway.  I will say this however. Viral coughs can last for MANY weeks to well over a month or longer. Totally normal. Whatever the cause Id continue to ht the SA to bowel tolerance for all of you! Hope you improve soon!
