Started Crawling / Hit 6 months and nursing non-stop!

Ok, so Avalon started crawling around 5 months, but really started speeding around and pulling up to standing recently, when she hit 6 months. She has been nursing non-stop for the past week. She is probably nursing once every hour and isn't always nursing for very long. She also is having a hard time getting to sleep...her naps aren't really happening anymore, but recently she's begun only needing to eat 1-2 times a night (8-10 hours), so that part is good.

Is this a growth spurt or something else? Is she starving? I've given her mashed potato and banana before which she barely ate any of and seemed to toss and turn at night after eating, so I am really not too gung ho on starting too many solids yet.

Also, we went out the other day to a picnic and she nursed briefly like 6 times in a 3 hours period... so I am wondering if she is merely coming back to homebase after exploring since when we go out, she nurses a lot in new situations, too.

I think it is totally normal and just listen to her cues. Even at 20 m/o DD eats a TON of solids and she will still have times like this. A lot of it could be for comfort right now b/c she has so much going on developmentally.
