Nifty info about warts

Turns out my grandfather-in-law would heal warts in 2-3 days on himself by concentrating on the wart going away for 10 minutes a day.

He had a friend he knew wouldn't be willing to try that and told the  friend to rub iodine on his wart 10minutes a day and the friend's wart went away.

That is so cool. I want somebody here on MDC to try it, and see if it works for them. Any volunteers? (I would try but I don't have any warts redface.gif)

I keep trying to get enough time to concentrate on a zit and see if it works for that too, what I've found is that 10 minutes is a looooong time for people as easily distracted as me.

Ok, now zits I can do! I'll give it a try the next time I get one, and report back. I don't have anything important coming up when I have to look nice, which is usually when a zit would appear,  haha!

Question....do I concentrate on removing it, or the desire to see a clear spot? Meaning, do I concentrate on the negative (removing zit) or the positive (seeing clear skin)? My guess is the positive.

I don't know since it was 2nd hand information about a long time ago. Maybe get two zits and try different methods on each?

I would expect the iodine guy to have been thinking about how the iodine would make the wart go away because my grandfather-in-law said it would.

Interestingly, DD has been dealing with plantar warts and we've been seeing a podiatrist, because home stuff wasn't working. He's been using something with the same acid as aspirin (I think), but stronger. Its working, hoorah!

But he also said that you don't technically have to treat every wart. The goal of the treatment is to irritate your skin so that your body will recognize the virus causing the warts as a virus/foreign. When it does, your body gets rid of all the warts, not only the one(s) you treated. He said it's faster to treat both of DDs warts though. If you had tons, they might treat the largest rather than all of them.

Totally mainstream doctor, but warts are apparently odd things in origin and treatment goals.

Hmm, so maybe what's going on with thinking warts away is that it triggers the immune response. If that's the case, then it wouldn't work on zits because those already involve the immune system.

Irish folk wisdom says to cut a raw potato in half, make an X on the wart with it and it will go away.  Apparently it does work quite well but I don't know if it is because of some active ingredient in the potato itself or more along the lines of focused attention like you're talking about here.  An interesting side note anyway for someone dealing with warts.
