There is a couple of us on here that live in Durango. MWs, as far as ones that attend hospital births there is only Southwest Midwives. There are 3 HB MWs in Durango and then another in a different town that will attend some births here.

Pedis, there are 2 practices, one large and one small. The big one is Pediatric Partners and the one I would highly suggest, if additional info is needed as to why then just PM. Yeah, the large office can be a PIA but one doc there makes it all worth it. Cecile Fraley is amazing, fine with what ever on vaxing, BF her kids for years, very AP. I have 3 kids with various milder special needs, and I can not tell you how many strings she has pulled for me over the years and has always gone beyond what she had to do to. My second child was seriously ill for an extended amount of time and I have personally dealt with every pedi in town between everything that has happened, some I refuse to take my kids to, others are just fine, but I adore Cecile.

There is a LLL group. The Family Center has playgroups meeting weekly from birth through age 5, some of the groups are more crunchy then others. There is a MOPS in town as well, I only know the basic info since I'm not really the MOPS type. winky.gif There are quite a few families in town, usually meeting others isn't to hard.

Ok awesome, thanks for the recs. Yeah we went with Dr. Pocky (sp) for his 9 mo appt but weren't all that impressed. He is supposed to be getting his 12 mo checkup but we haven't been back, not sure when we will try and either go back or find someone else. But I have heard good things about that practice you mentioned. I will probably try the other midwives first as I think I'm going to go with a HB if I find myself expecting again, although I am excited to know the midwives do hospital births too, that was NOT DONE in TX at all so it's nice to have that option.

Haha!! That is funny Peony that we had already chatted awhile back. So Dr. Pahki we didn't like. We did like Dr. Whitney but she ended up leaving because she had a kiddo. I work with Dr. Huffman up at the hosp (I work in the NICU as well) and I LOVE her. I felt we'd given Dr. Pahki plenty of chances, esp with as many times as DS got sick the yr he was in daycare. She just wasn't cutting it. We've only been to Dr. Huffman once for his 2 yr well check but she was fantastic. Hopefully we won't see her again until 3, so far so good. Thanks for your advice, I wish I had of switched over sooner but I am just too nice I guess (although like I said we would of been fine with Dr. Pack) but anyway.... bleh.
