What are mothers' rights during childbirth?

Oy vey! What do you all think about this? What do women's rights look like when it comes to giving birth? When does provider liability become a factor?

What can be done to stop things like this from happening?

At least some people seem to have the right view:

A 2002 survey by researchers at the University of Chicago found only 4 percent of directors of maternal-fetal medicine fellowship programs believed pregnant women should be required to undergo potentially lifesaving treatment for the sake of their fetuses, down from 47 percent in 1987.

Stuff like this scares me to my core.  Unbelievable.  So, if she had returned they were ready to strap her down against her will and take her baby from her.  (((shudder)))

Crazy what our society has become- between these kinds of things and sueing everyone in the world for every possible mishap/mistake/unintended consequence we are bring this country downhill fast. Who wants to go to Europe with me?!
