Hello, my dd is 2 months old and we have been fighting thrush for a month maybe more, We have done 2 rounds of nystatin, then 3 days of gentian violet, applying it to my nipples and her tongue after every feed, then 5 days of one diflucan a day and gentian violet at night. we still have it! It is painful for me and most likely for her, Any suggestions?

I used lanisol and my own expressed milk.   I did not take meds, but I had some for DD.

We battled thrush (unsuccessfully) but something I am going to do if I have to deal with it in the future is cut out all sugar.  Yeast thrives on sugar so hopefully you can have some relief if you haven't decreased your sugar intake.  Also, I used vinegar to rinse my nipples after nursing.  There are other natural remedies such as grapefruit seed extract - here is a link of some possible home remedies - http://www.candida-cure-recipes.com/home-remedy-for-thrush.html  - Best wishes!  I know how hard it is to have a good breastfeeding relationship when dealing with thrush.

Yeast is so tough to get rid of and it's so painful! I'm so sorry you are going through this. Good job sticking with the breastfeeding. You might be doing these things already, but I'll throw them out there anyway: Keep you breasts as dry as possible. This means letting them air dry and/or changing breast pads frequently. If you have trouble with a lot of leaking press in hard on your nipple (like stopping an injury from bleeding) for about 10 seconds after you feel your milk let down or notice leaking. Wash your bras frequently in hot water. Adding vinegar to the wash may help, too. Good luck. I hope you can concur the yeast!

Probiotics are also really helpful.
