Cosleeping toddler spending the night away from home

Anybody dealt with this?

In September my DS will be staying with his aunt overnight for 1 night.  He will be 13.5 months old.  I can't even begin to wrap my brain around the logistics of this!  Currently he naps & sleeps in our bed, and at daycare he sleeps in a bouncy seat.  He has no experience sleeping in a crib, pack n play, etc.  (Well, unless he remembers his life prior to about 5 months old, when he slept in a crib for a 6 week period.)

If your LO spent the night away from your home, what did you do?  Did they sleep in a pack n play or similar?  Am I completely and totally screwed?  (Or rather, is SIL completely and totally screwed?)

(FWIW, my DS sees his aunt once a week so she's certainly no stranger to him - I have no qualms about it from that angle.)

At about the same age DS stayed with my parents for one night while DH & I were away. He was mostly co-sleeping at home with me, very rarely in a crib, the only 3 ways to get him to sleep were: nursing, car rides, or walk in the stroller.

So, my dad walked him all around inside the house in the stroller till he fell asleep, then parked it with the brake on where they could still hear him if he woke, left his seatbelt on, fully reclined the stroller (flat), and tucked his blankets around him.

Not ideal, totally not something I'd do on a regular basis, but for one night, it worked :) Now he's 4, and he totally loves the cool 'grand kids room' at my parents, it has a pack & play for my nephew, and a twin bed for DS, so the one weird sleep in the stroller overnight didn't set a precedent or anything! :)

Thanks for the positive story!!  I am feeling somewhat more hopeful as SIL got DS down for a nap on Sunday by walking/bouncing him.

The first time I left my daughter overnight with grandma, she slept with her.  She was older, but maybe they could try that.  Also, I think kids are different when they're not with mama.  I'm sure they both will be fine.  You will probably be waking up all night!
