Yearly worry related to DD's birthday

This will be a bit of a rambling on, so be patient please...So when I was pregnant with DD (almost 4) I had planned on nursing a year, then I learned a lot and decided I would nurse DD for at least two years, then that birthday came and went and I decided I really was for CLW, then I became pregnant with DS and nursing started to drive me crazy and I hoped bittersweetly she would wean as my supply decreased, but nope, lasted through pregnancy and the birth of DS...And I was glad to cross that sibling bridge with her nursing.  Now it has been another year and DD's fourth birthday is rapidly approaching, as much as I understand and support CLW, I seem to get anxious around each birthday as it seems DD has no plans to ever wean.  I get the creepy crawlies every time I nurse her, but she still enjoys it so much, I feel so conflicted...I want to meet her need...but I want her to not need nursing anymore, does that make sense?  I know I really won't do anything about it (meaning encouraging her to wean), I guess I am just looking for support...She will wean someday right?  I just don't see any end in sight...she nurses at least twice a day (before nap and at nighttime) but sometimes upon both awakenings as well, and will ask, too, if something really upsetting happens, and she doesn't really nurse long, but insists on nursing at least through on let-down.  I just don't feel like she will ever stop, but of course, I want to meet her need...I guess when I signed myself up for CLW I was imaging until 4 or 5 years (of course, I am fine with other people nursing older children smile.gif), I just didn't have it in the cards for me...but I think she has other plans...

Children do not go to high school or get married while still nursing. She will wean. If you're truly anxious about it, then look into ways you can help her wean. Otherwise, sit back and relax. I can only hope my son will nurse as long as your daughter has. :)
