Going Past Due...whats your plan? (LONG) - Page 2

Due date is tomorrow. My midwife sends you to get a non-stress test (ie. go have a fetal monitoring strip done) at 41wks to see what baby is up to and see if you are contracting. Three days later, an ultrasound. Three days later another u/s. This is to make sure the placenta is still looking okay. At this point (42wks) they start talking about what to do intervention-wise. I just wanted you to hear this because there are lots of ways practices can monitor you.

I was induced with my 1st. The MD had scheduled the induction for 10days past due date, but then I got a call from the hospital saying "oh you've been rescheduled for 6 days past due date". I was so surprised, I just went with it. I showed up completely closed and rock hard and baby super high. I wish I had known that I could have said "no, I'm going to stick with my original date" or had asked for monitoring, cervical ripening, etc instead of just showing up and starting from 0.

Also, my midwife said that you just need your oxytocin going, so the orgasm is the most important, not necessarily semen. TMI? But this was good to hear, as I am completely uninterested in intercourse, but okay with orgasm :)

Good luck!

I thought semen  had prostaglandins in it which helped ripen the cervix, so not totally necessary, but a nice bonus. That said, I'm totally into intercourse when pregnant. *Blush*

Yeah, I always heard it was the prostaglandins. I'm sure a little oxytocin doesn't hurt either. Hubby doesn't always come when we DTD, so I don't plan to put much stock in that method. (hey, as long as we're doing the TMI thing, what the heck.)

...and then there's that bit about the prostaglandins in semen being more effective when taken orally.

My MW's set up a NST and BPP at 41w so I'll have those scheduled today. They also schedule induction at 42w. This is where I insert the vomiting emoticon, right? I'd be shocked to not go past my EDD - the 10th - but I'm not worried about losing out on HB for post dates. It still feels stressy. For many reasons I chose to go with this group rather than the mega laid back OB who attended my last HB and I always knew as this time drew closer I'd have to deal with the legal framework they have to work under in order to attend births at home.

Aside from that I feel ok about still being pregnant. I mean, my mom calls every day to check on me and make sure I didn't sneak the baby out without telling her. I can't call anyone without them freaking out and I'm a spectacle in public but mentally I feel ok. I feel ready to meet my son but not anxious or weary of carrying him in my body.

Currently I'm taking EPO and Borage both orally and internally. Heavy on the orgasms, light on the semen. Chiro 2x a week. That's about it.

I did castor oil too when I was 2 days overdue.  Worked like a charm.  I drank 2oz at 10 am and was having ctx by 2 pm, delivered at 8 pm.  Diarrhea wasn't fun, but it sure did clean me out before I delivered.  LOL.

I also had a positive experience with castor oil and my last labour. I don't recall how much I took but it was 41w2d, nothing major or horrible happened and my daughter was born beautifully a few hours later.
