Due date is tomorrow. My midwife sends you to get a non-stress test (ie. go have a fetal monitoring strip done) at 41wks to see what baby is up to and see if you are contracting. Three days later, an ultrasound. Three days later another u/s. This is to make sure the placenta is still looking okay. At this point (42wks) they start talking about what to do intervention-wise. I just wanted you to hear this because there are lots of ways practices can monitor you.
I was induced with my 1st. The MD had scheduled the induction for 10days past due date, but then I got a call from the hospital saying "oh you've been rescheduled for 6 days past due date". I was so surprised, I just went with it. I showed up completely closed and rock hard and baby super high. I wish I had known that I could have said "no, I'm going to stick with my original date" or had asked for monitoring, cervical ripening, etc instead of just showing up and starting from 0.
Also, my midwife said that you just need your oxytocin going, so the orgasm is the most important, not necessarily semen. TMI? But this was good to hear, as I am completely uninterested in intercourse, but okay with orgasm :)
Good luck!
