Thanks for that link. This topic has been on my mind since my dentist suggested fluoride supplements (our water isn't). The reading I've been doing is pointing to me making sure I'm getting really good nutrition (uncommon in the US in my opinion). I've gotten better with my good ptenatals & started taking high vitamin cod liver oil, among other things. In my reading I'm coming across a lot of toddlers with bad teeth,! These are
BF kids so I'm trying to catch this early.

I would definitely educate yourself on the fluoride before giving that stuff to your baby. After researching, we decided not to supplement with fluoride, however, were okay with topical applications applied to the teeth (like the kind you get at the dentist, and fluoride toothpaste, once the child is old enough to spit). My son just had his 2.5 year dental check up. They found no cavities, very little plaque and no tartar. He night nurses a ton (still), but we're very diligent about tooth brushing. You usually hear about the kids with bad teeth, but you never hear about the ones with good teeth. ;)

We dont have fluoride in our water (thank goodness), and we have been a fluoride free family for about 3 years now. We use a xylitol based toothpaste and nobody has had any cavities. We brush my DDs teeth before bedtime, and she had her first checkup last month. She had some minor tartar buildup which was scraped off, and no cavities. My DD has never had any fluoride via toothpaste or treatment.
