On the wait list for Dr Owen, still looking for holistic family practice, Osteopath or...

Hi all,

My family is on the wait list for Dr. Owen and have been for about 6 months. I need other suggestion for right now!  I posted last year and got some wonderful recommendations for pediatricians (Dr Hermann) but we prefer someone who can get to know our whole family as we all have issues.

First, we live in Grant Park so we need someone ITP.

Second, my oldest DD needs the GA Form 3300 (Ear, Eye and Dental) filled out for kindergarten next fall so this person must be able to do that for us.

Third, we are homebirthing, NFP, no-vax, co-sleeping, EBF, etc, etc and I will not take crap from a doctor about our informed decisions.

Most importantly, DD has a heart defect.  We need someone with experience who can not only guide us, but also work with our cardiologist.  Although she is asymptomatic and in perfect health, she has been advised to begin a blood pressure medication to prevent possible future complications from this defect.  I have many problems with this, least of all the fact that there are no studies on the use of this drug in children, and no long-term studies period.  My parents have blood pressure issues and use COQ10, garlic, and other natural supplements quite successfully.  We are researching on our own but there is very little information out there about use/dosage of supplements in children. 

If anyone knows of any practice, particularly a family practice, that fits our criteria I would be so grateful for a recommendation!  In the meantime we are praying for an opening at Whole Family!

We just switched to Rainbow Kids Pediatrics and Dr Herrman in Decatur and really liked her!  I'm not sure about the heart issue but she was fine with my daughter who is not vaxed, was knowledgeable in nutrition, etc.  I actually liked her over Dr Owen (we used to go to her) mainly just personality wise.

I know you'd said you'd prefer a family practitioner, but please consider Dr. Herrmann at Rainbow Kids. We've been with her for over a year (DD is now 18 months) and we couldn't love her anymore. Really.
