Is baby aspirin needed?

This is a little complicated...so I'm sorry in advance. I am ttc after a miscarriage, and have been doing some research. It took 9 months to conceive my daughter. It took 13 months for this last time, and unfortunately it only lasted 6w1d. I have a feeling that something is off. My old OB kind of blew me off when I asked for basic testing, but finally sent an order for basics like tsh, estrogen, and testosterone. Those were normal. I switched OB's, and this doctor has been much better. I just had a miscarriage, so she wants me to try after I get a normal cycle and for three months. If I'm not pregnant within three months, she said we'd do a fertility work-up.

I know that I have inflammation issues. I have an autoimmune/neurological/inflammatory disease that causes severe muscle spasms. I also have an elevated homocystiene level. When I was tested a few months back, my B6 levels were low, which can also raise homocysteine levels. I'm going to switch back to my non-prenatal for awhile, since it is a good whole-foods vitamin with higher b vitamin levels. I'm also going to try a B6 supplement since the vitamins aren't very high for that particular vitamin. I'm back on vitex as well.

I take cod liver oil for many reasons, one of which is the inflammation and the ability to slightly thin the blood. I've read that some women take a baby aspirin daily for the benefit of thinning the blood and prevention of miscarriage. Would that really be necessary with the cod liver oil? Thank you. smile.gif

I don't know if a baby aspirin is necessary with everything you're doing, but I don't think it can hurt if you have inflammation issues (as long as you're not taking a lot of other blood-thinning supplements).  I also have inflammation issues, and my RE has me on a baby aspirin and has told me to get lots of antioxidents, too.  I'm taking Just Juice caplets and also getting plenty of fruit.  I quit the Vitex after it made my LP a little wonky.

If you're able to see an RE, I recommend it.  Not only are they happy to order as many tests as you want (and then some!), they're also more skilled in reading the nuances.  I just switched to an RE after working with my OBGYN and a regular endo for over year, and he found things they missed within five minutes!  Wishing you the best of luck and that you have a BFP soon.

Thank you! I'm going to give it a couple cycles once I get a normal period, and then look into testing.
