Best spelling video / computer game for 6 and 7 year olds?

See above?  My kids are interested in "studying" spelling and participating in next year's practice Bee.  I think a game might be the way to go.

They started a 2nd grade spelling workbook recently, and when they write there is still a good bit of phonetic spelling going on.  They also get confused between Spanish (they do Rosetta Stone) and English phonetics for spelling but that's sort of off topic and I'm sure will sort itself out.

i'm not sure how good it would be for a spelling bee, but my son uses spellodrome. you do have to pay for it. there's also tutpup.com, which is free (i've never used that so can't vouch for it).

hope that helps.

I love spelling!! When I was a teacher, this was my favorite subject to come up with games for. Maybe you can google/look for spelling games you can play together, in addition to the computer games. I liked to play games that got the kids moving, and they loved it too!

It's not a game but our son uses Click'n Spell.  It wasn't that helpful for him when he was doing hunt and peck typing; I had him go through the Dance Mat Typing program (free at BBC website) and once he could touch type, I had him start Click'n Spell over and now it is very helpful for him.
