where to go camping?

We would like to go on a mid-week camping trip this summer, somewhere within a 3 hour drive of Baltimore. Here are our requirements:

a place where it isn't as hot and muggy (so the shore is out)- somewhere more mountainous, maybe?

a place where there are activities for our kids (ages 3 + 6): very easy hikes, maybe option to go boating, bike rentals, petting zoo, old trains/farms, that type of stuff....our kids don't do amusement parks. They might like to sit on the beach and dig in the sand, but they're not interested in swimming, water slides, or anything like that.  Anywhere in PA, WV, western MD come to mind?

Maybe you'd be interested in treehouse camping? http://www.thetreehousecamp.com/

It's out near Harpers Ferry, they list as nearby attractions Antietam Battlefield, Caverns, Swimming and Tubing, Fishing, Antique Shops, Raft and Canoe Trips, Brunswick Railroad Museum, Horseback Riding

My ds was out there recently with family friends, they had a great time.

I like to camp at Deep Creek Lake state park (though it's not the only place to camp in Western MD)- I have not gone with kids (my DD is only a year old and we are planning to go there for Labor Day weekend, though) but my family went there for vacations, and we always liked it.  Sorry I can't be of more help with the kids activities.

FWIW, we are moving back to Baltimore and in looking for a place to camp for Labor Day, we are also considering Catoctin/Cunningham Falls in Frederick County and Codorus in Hanover PA.
