I'm really not sure where to post this, but I was thinking maybe this is the age range most likely to use a night light?

My DSD is 12 and we are working through a host of emotional issues, one of which is fear of the dark. I think if she had her way we'd have most of the lights on in the house all night. We just moved to a house with a pretty open floor plan. She wants the stairway lit up, I want to be able to sleep. We need to keep our bedroom door open, she can't sleep with her door closed. I thought maybe some kind of nightlight in the area would help. I need to come to a compromise on this as it's really important to show her we care about this and to model compromise.

This is a pic of the area. The door to the far left is the master bed, then the bath, the linen closet, then her room. Can anyone help with suggestions?
