Adoption blogs and forums

Thread Starter

I am struggling with some ethical and persoanl issues as my partner and I start the process of domestic infant adoption. I am trying to read and learn as much as I can, and I'm very grateful for what I have read here and the many books and blogs that I have been following. But this forum is a little slow :)

What are (or were, when you were in the early stages of the process) you favorite and most visited adoption fourms? I'm having a hard time finding others, specifically, others that have a balanced group. I have read over at adoption.com but I just find that I do not connect with most of the posters there.

Thanks

I've found that posting in this forum on MDC kind of goes in waves.  Sometimes it's a lot more active than others.  Diaper Swappers also has an Adoptive and Foster Parenting forum that I frequent.

There's a lot of great bloggers on tumblr. Ones I like are fosterhood.tumblr.com, viaukraine.tumblr.com, and mine- blueser.tumblr.com

Circle of Moms is doing a Top 25 Adoption Blogs right now and there are a ton of them listed.  I've found a few new ones that I love through there.  There are only a couple written by first moms, but I always find those to be so insightful and important to read as well as those by adult adoptees.

I have gone to www.adoptionblogs.com and www.adoptivefamiliescircle.com  You don't mention if you are doing transracial adoption but if you are then I would also suggest going to www.kevinhofmann.com and www.loveisntenough.com

I blog our adoption story- at www.adoptivemommydiaries.com I find it very helpful to read others stories and participate in forums to learn more about being a transracial adoptive mommy. Best wishes with your adoption process and I hope that you keep us posted :)

I used to go to http://forums.adoption.com/general-adoptive-parent-support/ but stopped because one specific person there was VERY nasty. However, it is a really active site with mainly domestic newborn adoptive families and the people there are very helpful. That said, they can be kind of against crunchy parenting, so I wouldn't get into parenting other than what is specific to adopted children.
