Yogis

Any mamas on here big on yoga? I have been practicing for longer than I remember and dream of someday being a yoga instructor. Today I did scorpion pose without a wall, wow was that invigorating and inspirational. I have been trying to pull of that asana for over a year!

I usually practice early morning after the sun is up but before my kids are up. Sometime that doesn't work out and I just try to get in ten or fifteen minuets whenever I can throughout the day. The best thing is my three year old dd has started joining me for those daytime sessions!

Well done!  I'm not even sure I could do that even with the support of a well...  :)

I hope my activities rub off on my son (he's 7 months - still a little while to go).  Especially yoga!  I started practicing at 24...sometimes I think how valuable yoga would have been for me in high school and in college (those joyous, pesky, crazy, blissful young years)...but at least I can practice and know of it now as a mother!

I've been practicing yoga for a while, since 2007 I think, but I just get back to my routines again after an appendicitis. Yoga after the surgery is different to me, I'm more into meditation right now.. not comfortable enough for more vigorous poses, yet. But maybe I will in the next couple of months. Before surgery, I hate meditation! But now, I really loved It, I think It released my post-surgery stress and pressures.

Although I have been practicing for years it has become much more meaning full since I became a mother almost four years ago. I don't think I could have made it through my first pregnancy if it weren't for yoga! And it definatly helped with labor too. I started college at UC Santa Cruz when I was 16 and there were daily yoga classes at the 'fitness center' I loved walking barefoot through the redwoods to the center to do yoga as the sun rose! My biggest mistake ever was dropping out of there the next year but hey I was just too young to be there to begin with...

I never would have made it through my labor without being really good at breathing - and that is totally thanks to practicing yoga.  My babe's head wasn't straight down at all, and the pain was so intense.  SOO intense.  I've seen posts from girlfriends updating everyone on their labor progress...my husband told me I'd go into a trance between contractions.  I made it naturally, though!  Really, truly thanks to *knowing* how to breathe!
