Would you eat cosmetic grade, certified organic unrefined coconut oil?

So, my budget is awfully tight, but I would really like to add coconut oil into my diet.  The hard part is the price!  The best I've found for food grade coconut oil is $5/lb, and that's not including shipping and handling.

I ran across a deal today for coconut oil, after shipping and handling it's ~$2.15/lb.  That's a price I can do!  However, it's cosmetic grade, intended for soap making or other skin use.

I'm really tempted to buy it for food use.  What would you guys do?

Found here, at the bottom of the page.

Wow I have the same question! DH used to make soap and has a bucket of coconut oil that was sealed and says he thinks it's just fine to cook with. It does not say if it's food or cosmetic grade on the bucket, just that it's coconut oil. We got it from GloryBee Foods I believe.

Anyone know?

Hmm, I don't know about your oil, Rhianna, but I guess you could try it.

So my sister's friend contacted the soap company, and here's the scoop.  They purchased the oil from another company and it was labeled food grade.  Once the soap company got the oil they deemed it inferior for food use according to their personal standard and labeled it cosmetic.  So it's actually food grade.

I am so stocking up on this.

ok I checked the website for the company we bought our oil from. They sell it for soap making, but their website says it's food grade. So I guess I'll use it. It's been sitting unopened in a cupboard for several years. When I opened it, it seemed fine. No smell, colour change or mold.
