not babbling very much at 6months

hey all, baby girl is 6 months old and is not babbling very much.. or at all? we didn't do a newborn hearing screening on her, so that's why it makes me nervous. for what it's worth, ever since she was a few days old, she swiftly turns her head whenever there is a sound, be it my voice, her brother running around or someone slamming the refrigerator door shut all across the house. she does a few ahhhhs, oooh, geeei sounds a day (definitely no bababa dadada sounds) and laughs and squeals but overall, she's a quiet girl these days. she did manage to start properly crawling and sitting up by herself at 6 months a few days ago, so could that be a reason she's holding off on the babbling? thanks in advance.. my son was SUCH a babbler, that it's hard not to compare, even though i know i shouldn't.

My DD was about 6 months when she went from aaaaahhhhhh to babababa. It was all of a sudden, and right around the time when I wondered if I should worry.

So don't worry. I think you're still in the normal range.

thank you, that's reassuring!

the thing is, i'm trying to remember if she started babbling and then stopped? ugh between the toddler and the baby, sometimes i feel so frazzled that i don't keep track of milestones like i did the first time. in fact, it wasn't until yesterday when a cousin casually made a comment "oh she's such a quiet sweet girl!" that i was like, oh woah she IS kinda quiet...

in case anyone was wondering, she started babbling yesterday with a full "mamam baa nahh" and is chatting babytalk with her older brother as i type lol. i guess she was just taking her time :)
