Insomnia?? Give me a break!

I have been having so much trouble sleeping the past few nights.  Unfortunately sleep deprivation has been a huge problem for me b/c I'm one of those people who needs a lot of sleep (like 9+ hrs a night).  Between taking forever to fall asleep, waking to pee & from aches & pains, I am beyond exhausted.  With DS#1, I could sleep whenever I needed to.  I'm trying to get some extra help so I can sleep but it's never enough.  I'm a little worried about getting enough rest after baby comes.  I will have constant help for the 1st month at least.

I can feel myself getting used to not sleeping! The other night I was up from 1:30 am til sunrise. Then got up at 9, tired, but like, oh well can't sleep anyway! I can't nap in the daytime either. I get good sleep at times, but when I don't I feel my body lock into "whatever & go" mode!

The insomnia is annoying because I can't turn my brain off and I start to run earthquake drills & possible escape routes from the house in my head. I'm weird about that usually and much weirder about that now :) It's exhausting!

I could not sleep last night! I just lay there awake. When I do sleep I wake up 4-5 times to pee, have weird dreams, and toss and turn. Luckily DD slept in so I got a little sleep this morning.

Not in your DDC, but I was in your shoes last year!

I'm a crazy pregnancy insomnia veteran as well (both pregnancies), and the thing that really helped me was actually getting out of bed when I couldn't sleep, and writing down all the stuff that was running through my brain...things to do before baby comes, baby name ideas, plans for the house, errands to run, recipes to try, WHATEVER. I felt like my brain was on fire with thinking, so getting it all written down freed it up for sleeping. (Plus, those lists are so much fun to look back on later...and trust me, it goes by so freaking fast, especially with a second baby...I don't know where this year has gone!).

Good luck!
