I think FF has your O day correct based on your temps and CF.  As for the OPK, I'm afraid I'm not much help there.   But I do know that there have been several posts in the last few months asking the same question: what does it mean when you get an OPK+ after ovulation?   Maybe someone here can answer that?  But all those previous posters went on  to have normal cycles with no BFP's if I recall correctly.   So it doesn't seem to point to pregnancy.  OPK's can be used as HPT's but only after HPT's would already turn up positive anyway- not before.   Forgive me for asking, but I know some posters weren't sure how to read their OPK's correctly... when you say glaringly positive you mean darker than the control or just a line is present?

darker than the control line.

thanks for the reply! ill go look at some of those posts. :)

In your case, though you never recorded a negative OPK prior to that positive one at 3 DPO.  So it's possible that your temp spike is not lining up with your true ovulation day.   Most resources will say there is a window of about 3 days in which ovulation will happen.  Since you still have creamy CF this might be exactly what is happening with you this cycle.  Hopefully you got some BDing in those last three days and definitely go for it today as well!   The other posters I was referring to, I believe, had OPK- recorded and then got an OPK+ after that sometime into their LP.  I'm not sure what that is about at all...

if its not marked it didnt happen, ;)  so no bd those days, and no opk...so i dont know if it was neg or positive. the second positive opk was lighter than the last pos opk but still a positive test.  so i think im all wacky....whatever happens, i hope it works! haha

Well, sperm can live for several days (my ds was conceived with 5 day old sperm!) so hopefully it all works out. But I do suggest getting in one more shot tonight!   winky.gif

Your CM and temperature signs are both lined up to indicate O on CD 16.  I've seen OPK's be wrong as often as I've seen them right.  If you were CTA, you would actually be considered safe to DTD tonight.  You BDed on Peak day, the day before and every other day of your fertile period before that.  Things are looking pretty good for you.  Good luck in the 2ww.

JMJ so what would you say is the cause of OPK- followed by OPK+ after a clear temp shift?  Faulty tests?    It seems like it happens semi-frequently just based on the posts I've seen here over the last few months... are OPK's really that inaccurate?

thanks jmj, i think im good as well, thats why i didnt try too hard to dtd last night, no sperm could get through that creamy cm anyway. ;)

jamiee- i didnt get a neg opk before my positive yesterday. i didnt take a test so i dont know if they would have been positive all the way thru the thermal shift or not.  im thinking the clomid has just made my hormone levels higher all around so the lh surge lasted 4-5 days instead of 1-2 days.

thanks all for your help!!!!

I don't know much about what causes OPK's to read positive or negative.  I know you're supposed to assume that you're ovulating after first positive, so I assume that the normal luteal phase hormones can sometimes trigger positive OPK's, and I see that happening.  I've also seen people have positive OPK's and fertile CM and then no thermal shift, and I assume that in those cases, the woman's body gets all ready to ovulate and then does not actually ovulate.  So, when you combine the fact that you can get positive OPK's long before you ovulate, you can get positive OPK's after ovulation, and these are common enough that I see them regularly (granted, from a biased sample of women who are TTC and confused.  The ones for whom it's working probably aren't as likely to ask for help.), I just have a hard time putting a lot of trust in them.

Thanks JMJ... I've never really used OPK's so I don't have a good feel for them.  I just understand what they are supposed to do, so that was confusing to me.

Vivica- oh, I know you didn't get an OPK- before that OPK+ post ovulation... I was just wondering what JMJ thought about that scenario since that does seem to happen semi-frequently and makes a lot of women think they might be pregnant.
