Summer IVF Thread - Let the Sun shine through all of usl!!! - Page 32

I will come back and do personals later.

I woke up with a headache and threw up on the way to the hospital.  I felt a little better once we got there.  I have always had problems getting IV's and today takes the cake! I went through 2 nurses and then 2 doctors, and they took 18 trys to get an IV in me.  My arms are more sore then my tummy :(  Then I threw up when I got home too.  I slept all day and just got up to eat something.

So I am a little down because they only got 7 eggs.  I didn't actually talk to the doctor so I was not clear if they got more and 7 were the ones that were mature?  DH doesn't ask questions... I know all I need is one good one so I will feel much better when I get my report tomorrow.  I know that this is in God's hands now, so I will just pray that I will be open to His plan.

Graf Congratulations!! that is a great number for 12 dp retrieval if you look on betabase 37 is the median HCG level for 12 dpo in a singleton pregnancy. So I think your number is more than fine.

hi ladies!! there's so much going on and so many personal congratulations i'd like to dole out (bungalow, twins!!) but it's my birthday and we're headed out to dinner shortly so i'll follow up this weekend.

afm, i got my schedule! i spoke to the dr and at the meeting they said they think it's absolutely a sperm issue.  the embryologist said my eggs were great, so they recommend a 50/50 split with donor sperm.  looking for donor sperm is an adventure, let me tell you.  first of all, the majority of these "boys" are about 20 years old which makes me feel slightly like a pedophile for seeking out good sperm qualities in kids that are almost young enough to be my sons (not quite, but feels that way).  i have  personal favorite, husband is leaning in a different direction but i think we'll find a good compromise (aka, my choice. hehhe).  either way, it may be the answer to getting pregnant.  we tried to look for someone who shared some physical characteristics with my husband, so that it won't be obvious to anyone.  i'm dark haired and olive skinned, my husband is pale and blonde, so we figure my genes will dominate anyways!  unfortunately my clinic requires two vials of sperm and each one is about $500 a pop, not including fees like delivery, etc.  plus if (fingers crossed) it DOES work, i'd want to buy more possibly for a sibling later on... and then storage fees... *sigh*.  it makes me so jealous that we can't just have babies like everyone else for free! i'm going to have to force this kid to breast feed because we won't have any money left over for formula!

i'm back on birth control, start stims on 9/4, and am looking at an ER the week of 9/12.  If all goes according to plan I figure i'll go for my beta right around the beginning of October?  i'm so grateful that all of you are here, because i don't think i could be starting a second cycle without all of you to hold my hand along the way.

April, I'm so sorry you had such a difficult time! My gosh! I hope you are feeling better now! And it is a good thing it is the weekend so hopefully you will get a lot of rest the next couple of days.

Aura, I'm so happy you have a plan! I'm looking forward to hearing about the triumphs along the way and I cant wait to congratulate you on you BFP! By the way, my birthday was just yesterday! Happy birthday to you! joy.gif

I giggled about your comment about feeling like a pedophile. That is too funny!

Big hugs!

Auraleigh~ Try Northwest Andrology and cryobank...I think that there Sperm for IVF's is $175 a vile...if you purchase more than one then they are $150...I think. Good luck, most banks are cheaper and offer IVF sperm vials which are a bit cheaper because there is a smaller quantity. Oh and congrats on being back on the ttc rollercoster!

April~ OMG...I am so sorry that your retrieval day was such a B%$^H!  hug2.gif  I would take it as a cosmic sign that your transfer day will be great and that you will get your BFP. Hugs girl...get some rest and let us know how your fert report turns out.

Graf~Congrats on your beta...GL at your Monday beta. goodvibes.gif

AFM~ I had a good retreival day...DP was out of sorts a bit...I think that she was just nervous and being a bit overprotective of me. Anyway, everything went smoothly and they were able to get 10 mature eggs out of my 15 follicles, I would have liked more, but my RE was very pleased, so I guess I will be too. I'll get a call tomorrow morning from the embryologist telling me how many have survived ICSI and fertilized. My Re was excited by getting the 10, but he told me that he would be happy if at least 4 survived to be transfered back in. I would like all 10 to make it, but I guess sometimes these older lady eggs just don't make it.

Graf - mine was only 30 10dp3dt and although my second beta of 56 wasnt quite doubling my third tripled to 174 48 hours later and we saw a little sac and yolk sac yesturday. He didnt get close to really see it well but said he didnt want to spend much time in there this early. So stay positive I know how hard it is!!

Gelly and april I pray for great fertilization reports for both of you!!

Bunglowmama glad to here about the twins and glad everything is looking good!! joy.gif
post #627 of 790

Graf, congratulations!  I think the beta number sounds fine for it being so early still.

Bungalow, WOW twins!  Congratulations!!!

Lyndi, I am so glad that your u/s went well and everything looks good!  Now you can relax a little and enjoy your vacation!

April, sorry your ER was such a pain.  That really sucks that they couldn't get the IV in and you threw up twice...ugh, what a day!  Hopefully you will get some great news tomorrow about your eggies!!!!

Gelly, glad your ER went smoothly!  I am hoping all those eggs fertilize tonight!  How many do you plan on transfering?

Aura, how exciting that you already have a plan and are getting started again!  You made me laugh with your sperm search experience!!!!!  I hope you are able to find some sperm that look like your DH :)

Renavoo, so excited for your POAS and beta!

AFM, I really don't like being on progesterone.  I am getting hot flashes and waves of nausea...if I had already transfered I would think I was pregnant :)  I am so excited for transfer I just wish the time would fast forward!  Tomorrow I have acupuncture in the morning and a massage in the afternoon.  I got the massage as a gift for my birthday last year and have been waiting for the perfect time to use it!

Sigh, a tiny bit worried right now...just saw some light pink blood when wiping and when I put in my progesterone suppository, the applicator was a tiny bit bloody. The blood looked a little brownish but I don't know if it is implantation bleeding considering I am at 14 days post retrieval. Will test tomorrow with flu but just worried.

Holy cow there is a lot going on here!!!  Way to start off the weekend ladies!!!!!  joy.gif  We are out of town at my parents this weekend, so this will be a little short, but had to get on to check in and see how things are going.

Graf - Congrats!!!!broc1.gifcarrot.gifbanana.gif   I think your number sounds fine since it is a little early.  My RE test at like 13 days past ER I think it is.  Keep us posted.

Renavoo - What CD are you on right now?  Hoping that it just maybe blood from implantation or that the embies is just digging in deeper or could be just that you are irritated down there from the progesterone.  Fingers crossed for you and don't ruin your weekend if you get a BFN tomorrow b/c with our first IVF i got a BFN the day before our beta and then the beta was a BFP so don't lose total hope until you get those beta results.  Happy belated B-day!!!

Bungalowmama - AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!twins.gif Twinkies!!!!!  Love it!!!!!  Hope the swelling goes down.  I had issues with that later on in my twin pregnancy w/ one of my legs, but supposedly it was nothing and just the way the babies were positioned that was causing my one leg to swell they said.  Keep us posted!!

Aura - Awesome!! I'm glad you have a plan!!  LOL....."pedophile"... that was funny.  Hope you had a great B-day!!!!

April - praying for you eggies that all goes well.  Hope you start feeling better now.  Let us know when you get the report.

Gelly - glad all went well.  Yeah, how many are you transferring? Keep us posted.  Fingers crossed for you!!!

Belly - Are you back from vacation now?  Where were  you?  That sounds like an awesome day w/ acupuncture and a massage.  Doesn't get any more relaxing than that!!!!  Enjoy!!  I've been really stressed today so that sound soooo good right now.

Lyndi - so glad to hear all went well with your U/S!!!  Yay!!!!!!  hug.gif praying all continues to go well!!!!

so much action on the board! thanks for the birthday wishes! my husband and i went out to a really nice restaurant in the area and did an incredible tasting menu.  i ate all the things i won't be able to eat soon (raw fish, unpasturized cheeses, lots of wine!) and it was amazing.

congrats graf! this is great news, and don't worry about the betas, it's so early and they will get higher.

renavoo- happy birthday!! how did you celebrate?  it's hard to take the time to celebrate yourself during all this crazy, but i hope you found a way.  also, my dr said the progesterone suppositories could cause vaginal irritation, so don't freak out! there could be bleeding.

april, sorry the ER was such a pain in the butt.  at least that part is done and i am crossing my fingers that you have some great eggs to transfer.  i know how you feel about the waddling, i actually ordered a bellaband for this cycle because last time i was SO bloated and bruised that i had a hard time wearing pants.  this time, i decided i'd rather be comfortable.

belly,  tomorrow sounds SO GOOD.  i am jealous! enjoy your massage and acupuncture!

lyndi and bungalow, so happy for both of you!  time to celebrate!

gelly- not sure why but my clinic requires the unwashed sperm, which is of course the most expensive.  they prefer it in its natural state so they can clean it or whatever in a way that they choose.  i believe they called it ICI quality.  they also recommended xytex, which was the bank they have been the happiest with lately and have found the most success with.  we had also looked at fairfax and california cryo, but xytex won out.  it was hard to put out the money for the unlimited membership to see all the enhanced photos/profiles, but worth every penny.  we had blindly picked a handful we thought could work, but once we saw photos it was SO obvious that most of the people were not going to work for us.  we want someone who looks similar to my husband,  someone who seems like a smart/nice/motivated person.  plus the person i'm leaning towards is such a cutie, and why not give our child an extra advantage in life if we have the choice?

BFN on an Internet cheapie. greensad.gif those things are bad luck... Really down but I think I will just wait for beta to test. I'm prepared for a bfn in the beta though and now I'm just looking forward to getting the FET done. this was 10 days post 5day transfer so it really should have been positive if the embies took. Beta on Tuesday. Can't wait to get that over with!

Aura, I can't wait to do what you did!! Keep it up and enjoy! Haha I will probably be doing that after my beta next week too!
Well I am in shock and really need prayers. Only two federalized and only one made it through the night. I need to remember it only takes on but all I can think is ehat are the chances that one makes it to Wednesday?

RENAVOO- I hope it was just a falae negative!

April - Sending up prayers for you and your little egg!!!   Did they talk about doing an earlier transfer since only one was left?  They did my transfer after two days.  ER on like a Mon and then ET on Wed.  Kinda sounds like what happened with me where they may have waited too long to do the ER.  We only had one to transfer back and it wasn't a very good quality.  I hope that things will go smooth and you are right... it only takes one.  It is out of your hands now and there is nothing you can do.  Sending lots of prayers your way.praying.gif

Renavoo - keep your head up!!  It still early!!!  hug2.gif

April, I'll be praying for that embie to keep growing and get stronger.  I also wonder if they will move up your transfer to a 3 day?  I know some clinics prefer one or the other.

Renavoo, I am sorry you got a BFN today, but it could be too early if it was a late implanter or it could be the internet cheapie!  The beta is the only way to know for sure.

Aura, that's cool you get to see pictures!  You can take your favorite traits from DH and add a couple more!

Gelly, hope you get some good news today!

Blue, you crack me up...a short post :)  and it's just as long as usual :)  It's so great having you around!!!

oh blue!  I would be totally mad about your insurance backpay too!  I hope it all works out.  That's so great your RE is giving you a discount!  I'm hoping with everything I have that Sept is your month!

Lyndi - YAY!  I had my first u/s with this pregnancy at exactly 5w4d too and all we could see were the sacs and yolks.  So, YAY!  ARe they going to do another in a week or two and look for fetal poles?

Bungalow - Yay!  Welcome to the club twinsie mama!  I'm so excited for you! If you ever need to talk, I'm just a PM away.  Twin pregnancies are quite different from singletons and it can be a little overwhelming if you're not prepared.  I'm so glad I have a sister who has twins and 3 friends with them too.  They've been a wealth of information.  I have a couple books I can recommend if you're interested.

graf - I'm hoping you get a good beta next time!  I've got everything crossed for you!

april - (hug) I'm sending as many good thoughts your way for you and your little embie.  I'm so sorry more didn't take.

aura - Yay for having a plan!!  The costs are crazy, aren't they?

gelly - I'm so happy your retrieval went well!!

renavoo - (hugs) It's still really early.  I'd take the brown blood you saw as a good sign.  I'm hoping so hard for a good beta on tuesday for you!

AFM- WOW there was a lot to catch up on here!  I've had a tummy thing going on and haven't been able to get on here the last few days.  I really have no news other than I'm only 2 weeks from being half done. bigeyes.gif (My OB won't let me go past 38 weeks cause twins mature faster than singletons and the placenta begins to break down after 38 weeks)

Happy thoughts for everyone and I'm rooting for you all!

 Afternoon everyone...Happy Saturday!

Kewpie~ Sorry to hear that you have had some stomach trouble. Hope that you are feeling better soon. Congrats on almost being 1/2 baked...joy.gif

April~ I am sooo Sorry that more of your eggs did not fert. I agree with Belly can they not do a 3 day transfer? If you feel comfortable maybe you could call and talk to your RE and see if this would be a possibility. Hugs cycle buddy...hug2.gif

Renvoo~ Are you using the crinone? It irritated me pretty badly...and I had a bit of bleeding with it when I used it. It's still early you could have had a embryo that implated late and the brown disch

arge could be old blood from it digging in. Happy belated B-day. partytime.gif

Aura~ Happy belated B-day to you too...partytime.gifI hope that you and DH are able to find the perfect donor!

AFM~ I finally got the call from my embryologist that I was waiting for...5 of my 10 eggs survived and fertilized into embryo's! Yeah. I am set for a 3 day transfer on Monday @ 11am. Yeah! I think that we will be transfering 2 eggs. I am scheduled to start the dreaded PIO shots tonight...yuck. Here is hoping that they are not that bad.  om.gif

April, oh my goodness, after all that!! But like you said, you only need one good embie!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it survives to be put back in and that it give you the BFP!!!

Thank you so much ladies!! i don't think that it's too early although who really knows. As you said, i will get my definitive answer on Tuesday. At least I'm prepared for a negative though...it's going to be a hellish week at work so I rather be prepared than let it hit me as a surprise. Maybe I'll use another test on Tuesday just to see. I don't even know what a positive looks like on those tests because I've never seen one. If I have to do a fresh cycle again, I'm SO going to use the tests right after the trigger. haha.

Well, on to a FET, if Tuesday confirms the BFP. Does anyone know which drugs are preferred during the prep stage? Do they usually use the oral estrogens and vaginal progesterones? Or should i be expecting to use some injections again? Well, whatever happens, happens!!

Hope everyone is doing well! it's a beautiful day today although i've been holed up a bit. But friends are coming so hopefully, I'll feel better later today!

Renavoo, hopefully it doesn't come to a FET, but if it does, my doctor uses oral estrogen and vaginal progesterone suppositories.  The estrogen is estradiol (generic of estrace) and costs me $15 for every 60 pills.  I took it orally with my first 2 cycles, but it appears I absorb the estrogen inconsistently that way.  This time I used the same pills vaginally and got MUCH better results.  So, I would use them vaginally if it were me.  The progesterone suppositories are $40 for 40 at my RE office, which is kind of spendy at 4/day.  Especially since I would need to take them all through the first trimester.  I am still praying for a BFP for you!

Gelly, yay for 5 embies!  When is your beta?  I transfer Tuesday, so I think mine will be on the September 1st, so we might be beta buddies!

ETA:  Does anyone have a good "make ahead meal" I could prep Monday and keep in the fridge for my MIL to put in the oven/crockpot/ect while I am at work on Tuesday.  Since we have our transfer after work, I'd like to have dinner ready when we get home and offer for MIL to stay.  Thanks!!!!
