Any other 3 yo live on eggs, dairy, and carbs?

All BuggaBoo wants to eat all day is dairy (usually in the form of yogurt or cheese), eggs, and carbs.  He will eat some veggies, but not much, mostly steamed broccoli, cucumbers, and whatever I can slip into his "chocolate banana smoothie".  His smoothies consist of frozen banana, carob powder, a few raw greens, and a raw egg.  Our eggs come from our backyard chickens.

I'm really new to TF, so is this an adequate diet?  He is still nursing A LOT, at much as his 15 month old sister.  If your child ate this way would you feel comfortable with it?

You guys, thanks for all the support.  It's so helpful knowing I can just hop on here and get an answer to my questions without (for the most part) being judged.  It's awesome!

My children not only ate that way, but they wouldn't eat ANY vegetables (except tomatoes and onions cooked in one pasta sauce recipe). I've managed to put pureed veggies in some things (they won't drink smoothies) but no green stuff.

Turns out their pickiness is related to their Asperger's (which we just realized they had), but of course lots of kids without AS are picky, too. I just think my kids are extreme. They are both SUPER healthy, rarely ever get sick, and fight off bugs like they were nothing. We are just coming out of chicken pox - we got it from some friends and their kids had a tough ride for a couple of days, but my kids are sailing through it.

So all this to say that YES your kid can survive on carbs and dairy. Most kids outgrow these picky tastes when they get to adolescence, too.

Piglet68, thanks for the assurance.  I'll be sure to worry less.

And I'm pretty sure he's not on the autism spectrum, but I do know that he can be sensitive about things.

My 3 year old really only consumes the carrot juice and spinach I hide in his smoothies for veggies. I'm not concerned honestly. He eats some fruit, drinks raw milk, eats tons of protein foods (eggs, chicken, sausage, yogurt, cheese, peanut butter), and still nurses 2-3 times a day. He's healthy and growing.

Amy, that's great.  BuggaBoo doesn't really eat meat since we raised him vegan, but he would eat six eggs and a quart of yogurt a day if I let him.  He did try some bacon yesterday and loved it.  He ended up eating all the collards and bacon I gave him last night, so that's progress.

My ds1 just turned 7, and he has been eating that kind of diet since, well, he started eating!  He gets all his protein from dairy (raw milk, yogurt, kefir & cheese) and raw nuts.  He also eats all kinds of fruit and some raw vegetables, and has oatmeal for breakfast every. single. morning.  He likes bread and pretty much all carbs, but we try to keep those items to a minimum.  That's about all he eats, and yet somehow he's the healthiest kid I know.  He *never* gets sick - not even a cold - and he's growing fine mentally and physically.  I go through phases where I get worked up and worried about it, but I keep coming back to the bottom line: He's doing great.  He's healthy.  This isn't the way I would eat, but I try to respect his choices.

That is my 2yo (26 mo) and only today are we facing his first illness. He looooooves kefir!

I have read several places (of course I can't remember exactly where now) that children cannot process/extract the vitamins and minerals from veggies as well as adults.  And that could be a reason that they don't really care for them for the most part.  I feel fine about feeding DD (4) good pastured eggs and grass fed meats, and then whatever else she will ingest without a gigantic fight.  Green stuff is pretty low on my "argument-worthy" list.  I care about: 1. Fat 2. Vitamins/Minerals 3. Protein 4. Probiotics/some kind of fermented stuff

I would say his diet sounds pretty good.

Awesome, thanks for all the support.

Your little one just sounds like he is working on packing in the protein, and it would be wise to follow his desires by continuing to offer dairy, eggs and meat with the carbs.
I would only be worried if he was only wanting the carbs.
As to veges, do not force them, except to hide a few things in smoothies.
Just offer them off and on, and do not make a fuss about it one way or the other.
Have you read Nina Planck's book, real food for Mother and Baby?

BubblingBrooks, no, I haven't read her book yet.  I just checked out "Real Food" from the library.  I'll be sure to look for that one next.

*sigh*  I guess I'm just going to have to buckle down and make my own yogurt.  With the rate he's going through it it's going to be very spendy to keep buying pre-made yogurt.

I would just keep offering veggies in different forms, but wouldn't worry too much. It seems like he's getting what he needs. He may suprise you though and one day eat a veggie you wouldn't expect him too. My 2yo recently took a raw celery stick out of my plate and happily chewed it up. I was shocked, didn't even consider offering it to him!
