Please help. Slight spotting.

Hi ladies,

Can I ask for some advice please? I had my first postpartum period on the 25th of last month. But even after the usual 5 -days I have been spotting. When I say "spotting" it seems like an exaggeration because it really has been one teensy tinsy drop every other day (a slight pink tinge on the tissue. Sorry for the TMI.)

Before my pregnancy I never ever spotted after my period was done.

I start my ovulation period as of today and I "spotted" yesterday too. Should I be worried? Did this happen to someone else too? Oh - I got my first AF 2 yrs after my daughter was born (so almost 3 yrs of no AF). Should I try and TTC (like we have been waiting to do?)

Do you chart?  Recording your temps and cervical fluid can be very helpful in determining what is happening with your cycles.  It is possible that you're bleeding, but not yet ovulating.  It's also possible that you're hormones are still fluctuating quite a bit since it's just your first ppAF, which can cause random spotting.   Fluctuating hormones (like low progesterone) could also cause a short luteal phase which could get in  the way of TTC.  Charting would help take the mystery out of a lot of this and help you figure out when would be best to TTC and if some supplements or diet/lifestyle changes could help make your cycle more fertile.  Just a thought. 

If you've never charted before and are interested in starting, pick up a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility and a basal body thermometer  (from you local drug store).  You can also log your temps and other symptoms on a free site like www.fertilityfriend.com so that you can share your chart on forums like this and get help and support.

I had some light brown spotting at 4 weeks and 8 weeks and everything is absolutely fine. It seems to be that as long as it's brown and you're not experiencing cramping then it's fine. I also had those stretchy feelings during the first few weeks, very odd feeling
