North Georgia Chiropractor

Hi Georgia Mama's! I need some suggestions. I am a doula in Chicago, but my niece lives in Flowery Branch and is about 7 weeks pregnant. She is only 19 and a wee bit overwhelmed. I always suggest that my clients get regular chiropractic care throughout pregnancy from someone who specializes in taking care of women prenatally. I would like to suggest this to my niece in the next couple of months, but I don't have anybody to recommend in North Georgia! So, have any of you used a great chiropractor prenatally that you could recommend? Ideally, I'd like one that uses the Webster technique etc... Just in case she were to need it as she has had some back issues in the past that may or may not come back to haunt her. It would be awesome for her to have a relationship built up with a great chiropractor. Thanks so much for your suggestions!

I don't have any advice for you but just wanted to say that I live pretty close to Flowery Branch :) This whole area in general doesn't seem to be that "natural". Hopefully someone can make a recommendation for you but I would imagine she would have to go closer to Atlanta, Alpharetta, Norcross, etc.

It's nice to meet you! I'm having a tough time being so far away from my neice. My sister had a terrible birth with her in 1991 (none of us knew anything back then!) but she doesn't believe me when I tell her it doesn't have to be that way for Sydney. As a doula, it is not easy for me to keep my mouth shut! smile.gif I'm just offering her bits and pieces of information as she's ready. I hope some suggestions do come my way for chiropractors - I think they can make a big difference. Have a good night!

Nice to meet you too! I know it must be hard for you to be so far. I had a bad experience with my first birth. I didn't know anything then either and I was pressured by my doctors into an induction at 41wks. I had an awesome pregnancy (other than gaining 70lbs :p) and there was absolutely no reason for me to be induced other than the fact that I was "past my due date". I had every intervention in the world and 22 hours later after not progressing at all I started to get a fever and my doctor said it was time to do a cesarean. She is now 3 1/2 and it is still sometimes hard for me to talk about. I got pregnant again when she was 8 or 9 months and new I wanted a VBAC. I read everything I could and joined all kinds of forums. At about 35wks my doctors started telling me it didn't look like I was going to be able to deliver vaginally since they were estimating her to be a big baby and I hadn't shown any signs of going into labor. At this point I knew I would have to fight hard for my VBAC. I found an awesome doula who led me to switch doctors at 36wks. I found Dr. Joseph Tate in Norcross and he was AMAZING! I was able to deliver my 9lb 3oz baby girl after going into spontaneous labor at 41wks and after 30 hours of labor. So, I definitely agree with your statement that "it doesn't have to be that way."

She's so fortunate to have an aunt who cares about her so much and wants the best for her and her baby!

Does she have a good doctor? I hate to say it but I believe the c-section rate in this area is pretty high, especially at Northeast GA Medical center which I'm guessing is where she'll deliver. Does she have a doula? Being a doula yourself I know you already know how much help they can be. I wish I would have had a doula for my first birth.

If I can recommend any other resources in this area please let me know!
