Raising a traumatized child

Seventeen years ago my son came to me.  He was 3-1/2 and had been through horrendous abuse.  The journey we've taken has involved violence, hospitalizations, destruction, and police intervention.  We made it, though, I am happy to say.  Not to a perfect life, but one that is plenty good enough.  If you are interested, please see my blog: raisingatraumatizedchild. blogspot. com.  Other foster adoptive parents have told me that it's been helpful to them reading about our experiences.

you are a wonderful writer. I cried reading your boy's story and I'm so thankful that he found you. hug.gif

Thank you so much for your comments. It's wonderful to hear that people are getting something out of our story.

Oh, and I posted the blog address with spaces in it because another site where I posted was a little upset that I posted the actual link.  I should have explained...

Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

Oh, and Marinak?  I noticed your location (surrounded by border collies).  Have you read Angelo's Journey by Leland Dirks?  It's on Amazon.  It's about a border collie's (imagined) journey home after being stolen.  It's a great book...
