Swallowed a small toy???

So about one week ago my 9 mo DS may have swallowed a small piece of a toy. Since EVERYTHING tends to go in his mouth, I'm not certain about the swallowing but about 75% sure.

Don't read this if you are eating btw;) DS has been pooping the last few days; 3-4 times a day compared to his normal once in the morning. And last night there was a bit of blood and mucus mixed in his now runny-ish stools. Called his doc and was told to keep an eye on him. Since he is acting normal, no fever, and is happy there's a good chance the toy just nicked something on the way out (though it's not out yet!).

Anyone BTDT? How long till the toy is passed? Doc said depending on the object one week is possible. We'll be making an appointment for Monday if nothing changes.... Any other good mom advice? We'll obviously call the doc/ go the ER if DS acts or feels badly or there is more blood.

DS is wearing disposables till this is over and I'm trying to ignore my mommy guilt for not watching him every second....

TIA

It happens! I've seen red blood in stools just due to little bits of paper my babies have chewed off of something or another. With an object larger than that, it's not too surprising to see what you are. I think you're doing just the right thing - keeping an eye on his output and following up if nothing else shows. Most likely, it will pass soon (if it hasn't already) and he'll heal up with no further effects. thumb.gif
