hospital midwives on base in Ft. Polk

anyone have a non invasive ob/gyn or hospital midwife they could suggest at ft. polk?  my cousin is 16 weeks pregnant and they just got stationed there and she is looking for someone who will be non induction c/s happy.  Thanks so much!

There aren't any midwives on post, but if she's willing to pay out of pocket there is a midwife in Lake Charles that does homebirths (peakmidwifery dot com).  She's a CPM, so Tricare wouldn't cover her even if your cousin switched to standard to go off post... but I hear good things.

 

 

In the other direction, though, I am a trained birth doula. I've completed all the requirements for certification through DONA Int. except attending three births.  I'm volunteering my services for those births, so if she's interested in having a doula at her birth, I'm more than willing! From my experience at BJACH, she's going to have to find her voice if she wants a gentle birth.  The docs are, for the most part, pretty "tolerant", but the nurses get a little... territorial.  As long as she is clear about what she wants, she'll be okay, but depending on who's on shift when she delivers she probably needs to be willing to go against the grain a little...
