using baby foods instead of pureeing?

Anyone ever done this?  I've seen carrot cake/muffin recipes using baby food carrots.

The deal is, we get WIC and they give jars of baby food.  I don't feed the baby pureed stuff--we BLW.  With my now 2 yr old, they'd just started this and I did get the fruits and mix them into oatmeal--will likely do that again.  But this is like 60-plus jars a month now, seems like a lot more than I ever had before!

It's not like I HAVE TO get them if I have no use for them, but I'd choose jars of say spinach and sneak them into spaghetti sauce or whatever instead of pureeing it myself if it's not going to make it taste bad.

ideas?

There is a cookbook called I think Sneaky Chef or something, that is completely based on adding purees to foods to sneak in nutrition, and she has a page that gives substitutes for her white, green, blue, orange purees in the form of baby food jars

Yeah.. Deceptively Delicious! That's the name of the cookbook. I have it & love it. Funny enough - I don't necessarily use it because of my toddler, who will eat absolutely whatever I put in front of him.... I use it to sneak in important fruits and veggies for my DH lol.gif. Some really great recipes and you could definitely get some use from the baby food!
