Looking for good energy boosting drinks for during labor

We are going to ttc#2 this fall, so I am trying to get all my resources together before I concieve and am tired and too busy.....

I remember reading when I was pg with DD that there are some drink (juice, if I remember right, but I am open to other concoctions, too) recipes that are supposed to help boost energy during labor, but for the life of me I cannot find them online now. So I thought you ladies might have some suggestions. I am willing to use herbs, my juice machine, etc. so if you have a recipe, please throw it my way!

TIA!

Laborade (I haven't used this, but heard good things about it.)

1/3 cup lemon juice
1/3 cup mild honey
1/4-1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1-2 calcium tablets, crushed

Add water to make one quart. Another 8 ounces of water may be added for a milder
flavor, or you can flavor with your favorite juice.

The Laborade recipe sounds familiar. I think that might be what I remember.

Also, I have never heard of Recharge. What is it and where can I find it?

Thanks!

Good for you getting ready like that! I drunk only water and I am VERY SORRY for that. I was totally exhausted afterwards. I am sorry my midwife never told my DH to bring me something else than water I would have most likely enjoyed my newborn son more than I did. I was not even able to lift my hands and hold him

If there is next time I will make sure I drink at least juices or recharge (ironicly I had about 5 bottles or recharge in my fridge)

Recharge can be found at a health food store, and it's like a natural Gatorade drink. I personally like the lemon and the tropical flavors the best, didn't much care for grape or the orange.

My midwives require that I have at least 4 bottles on hand.

Recharger here!! I also freeze some and make recharge ice-cubes.
I have new mws this time and they will feed me, when I am getting tired and/or dehydrated, shots of maple syrup with spirulinna. They say it is a quick way to get something nurishing into me. I say I hope I don't puke it up!!!LOL Sometimes greenfoods hit my tummy the wrong way.........

I love Recharge (no red please) and also EmergenC packets to make a great Electrolite replacer.

Is the "no red please" a preference, or is there another reason?

I had a bad experience with it when I was giving it to my children with a stomach virus......I guess that could be anything with color in it. It tends to not come out of the carpet after vomiting. Usually Hydrogen Peroxide takes out anything....but not red Recharge.
I tell clients to stick with Lemon-Lime, tropcial, etc.

What do you do with the EmergenC? Is it a powder that you mix into a drink? If so, what do you mix it into? And how often can you use it?
Just mix with water......just be cautious since too much Vitamin C can cause stomach upset.....but otherwise it is a great energy booster. I would say no more than one packet a day. Just mix with a full glass of water and sip it. I use it while I am walking on the tread mill.

Same here! I like the the tropical (like fruit punch) and grape Recharge (Made by Knudsen by the way) the best. we made ice pops too. It was the only thing I did not puke up in labor...
