Elevated liver enzymes?

Has anyone else experienced this? My doc ran a liver panel because I've been so sick and she said that my enzymes are elevated. I have to go have an ultrasound on my liver next week.

Sorry you've not been feeling well; hope you feel better soon.  Elevated liver enzymes by themselves are not a highly specific finding; you can get lower-range elevations (tens or low hundreds) transiently from a GI bug or a bout of drinking.  Generally the higher the elevation (eg high hundreds or thousands) the more concerning the finding.  In pregnant women there's a concern for HELLP which is like really bad pre-eclampsia, but if you aren't very along in pregnancy and/or don't have other signs of that (like elevated blood pressure, unusual findings on your CBC, symptoms like headaches, nausea, abdominal pain) it may not be a concern.

Good luck with your ultrasound, hope everything is OK.

I had this problem when not pregnant, and after lots of testing (ultrasound, MRI) it went away on it's own.  I do take milk thistle now every day.  :)

I had borderline elevated liver enzymes with my first pregnancy that improved by my second trimester.  My doctor determined that it was actually the morning sickness (which was really bad) that was causing the elevated readings.  So, one possibility is that the m/s is the cause rather than the effect.  Good luck.

My doctor did mention that this is a possibility, that they could be elevated from dehydration from so much m/s. Thanks! I will let you guys know how it turns out, I go on Monday for my ultrasound.
