The 41+ week thread - Page 3

Working with my homeopathic dr. so have been taking various remedies as various mental states arise - ie. took phosphorous when I hit 41weeks and started feeling really anxious to get this baby out!

Have also done the homeopathic induction of alternating caulophyllum, cimcifuga, pulsatilla.

No luck with any so far!

Had a NST today and all was well.  Chatted with MW tonight and am going to give castor oil a whirl tomorrow morning.  Tonight, tried my breastpump and actually got some colostrum.  Didn't feel any tightness in my uterus but it did help remind me that there will be a baby here soon ready to nurse and that my body is ready for her!

One 'funny' anecdote from my NST: The nurse said "well, this is your 3rd pregnancy so your uterus is all stretched out, old and might not be able to handle labour this time around". WTF? lol! I'm 32.  I was ready for her to say "this is your 3rd pregnancy so your body will remember what to do".  Geez.

I'm sorry you have this looming threat of losing your homebirth kawa. It is totally unfair in my mind if everything is well with you and the babe.

This would be ok if last week and I wasn't looking at only 4 more days of homebirth possibility. So tonight I'll rest and not stress and tomorrow a sweep (I think) and a BPP in which I hope nothing off is found. I have no reason to think it would be but I keep having fears of being told that I need to go to the hospital or have a c-section or something other than the experience I want. It's probably the pregnant crazy.

42w. I am having acupuncture done tomorrow and hopefully something will happen. She told me on the phone to be prepared for things to happen quickly (fingers crossed).  I am planning on doing a homebirth but if baby doesn't come by Friday,  I am afraid that might not happen.

OMG !  What's age gap between your children ? It's been 10 yrs since I've been pregnant so I was told that my body may not remember and this is like a first pregnancy for me....but to say you're old and stretched out ! HOLY CRAP !  Especially now days when people have them much older !

Does painful mean productive ? I've had several really strong contractions over the last 6 hrs...very random on the timing but definately consistant and with smaller ones in between. Crossing my fingers that means something !

Anyone else have anxiety about calling their midwife in the middle of the night ? I know it's what they do, I'm sure they are more then use to it ( and have told me not to worry about it ) but I still feel bad if that's what happens. For me it would be perfect ( hopefully my son will sleep through it )  but hate to drag them out :(

Thanks for the insight.

Kawa, you know what did it for me?   I had strong contrac.  starting two days before when I had the sweep, so on Fri. I contacted my friend who is an accupuncturist and she had me do the accupressure on the webbing between my index finger and thumb.  Lo and behold they got stronger and a pattern. DH and I then did nipple stimulation to keep them going good.  Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone still here???

Hope the castor oil worked for you! Worked for me at 41w4d. Did the 3 doses over 3 hours in the morning.  By afternoon was in early labour. To kick it into active labour (had 5hrs of early labour that I wasn't sure was going to progress) I took Pulsatilla 200ch.  4 doses 15 min apart.  Used my breast pump.  An hour later, babe was born.

Good luck!

Ugh!  I'm sitting here at 41w4d and took two doses of castor oil(about 3oz total) this morning and now here I sit, completely cleaned out and still completely pregnant.  I'm starting to feel very hopeless and I lose my homebirth after the weekend.  What the heck baby!  Please, oh please, come out!!

I hope the castor oil kicked things off...I will live vicariously through you :)

Still here...  Had to talk hospital induction today at my doctor appointment, and I think my tears bought me a couple more days.  I agreed to a BPP and NST on Monday(I'll be 42w1d) and we'll go from there.  I truly hope Monday doesn't come without a baby in my arms.  :/
