DD turns 2 today and self-weaned to once a day, in the mornings.  At 5:45 AM I woke up with an excrutiating pain in my right nipple.  I'm not engorged, or have a fever or chills.  My nipple is red and swollen.  When DD latched on, although she has never been a good latcher (more of a tugger), I saw spots because it hurt so bad.  There isn't a visible cut, not is there any discharge.


What could it be?  More importatly, what do I do to fix it?

PS-  I took 8 mg of ibuprofen after bf'ing her at 6:15.  Minor relief, if any.
