I'm planning on baking a cake and would like to decorate it w/out using artificial food coloring. Does anyone know of any natural food colorings? Has anyone used berry juices or something to make their own?
I just made a birthday cake today with natural colorings! I made some frosting and mixed some beet juice to make a nice pink, a teaspoon of spirulina for dark green, and a small amount of tumeric for yellow (go easy on this one because you may be able to taste a hint of tumeric). I made flowers with these three colors and it looked and tasted good. In the past I have used the juice from blueberries to make purple.
