Favorite homemade veggie dips

So I know a lot of you have raw veggies around to snack on, a habit i'd love to start. What kind of dip do you use? I am hoping for a homemade, yummy dip, with lots of flavor, because honestly I don't like raw veggies much without a lot of extra flavor... bag.gif Thanks everyone!

Not really healthy, but I love dill dip:

I always have some plain yogurt on hand so that when the kids want a dip I can pull something off. I'll make a dip of 2/3 yogurt and 1/3 salad dressing. I've used italian, ranch and french.

After seeing the link for dill dip I think I'll start experimenting with some herbs. I have lots of herbs in containers going right now. eat.gif

We like

-hummus (chickpeas and tahini),

-tzatziki (yoghurt, garlic and grated cucumber),

-roasted red pepper

-baba ghanouj (roasted eggplant) and

-muhammara (spicy peppers and walnuts).

Since we don't have a food processor, the only one I make myself is tzatziki. I learned the hard way that an immersion blender can't handle the work to puree chickpeas for hummus. I burned out the motor.

Tzatziki

2 cups of plain yoghurt, drained overnight in a cheesecloth-lined strainer set in a bowl in the refrigerator

2 or 3 cloves of garlic, crushed/minced

1 cup of grated cucumber, drained

1/2 cup chopped mint or dill

Mix together

I bought a little food processor at Target for $10.  It's small so I have to batch work it all, but it works and is totally worth it!

I've been meaning to replace the food processor (we had one years ago), but for a few reasons I haven't done it yet. I don't miss it often (except to make hummus, lol!) since the immersion blender works well for soups and sauces. We have a small kitchen right now and I'm trying to keep the number of appliances to the necessary few that I can't live without. Last year, I decided to get a stand mixer instead of a food processor and it takes up a lot of valuable real estate on my countertop.

Lately though, I do seem to miss it. There are a few things that a food processor does really well and I'd like to make those recipes again.

I love tzatziki and hummus! I also love french onion dip, but try not to eat it very often :)
