Crack behind earlobe.

I am sure this happens to other people. I get a crack right behind my earlobe sometimes. It usually resolves itself no problem, but this time it just wont heal. It doesnt really hurt, or look infected, but it does ooze a little and get crusty. I have been rubbing coconut oil on it but its just not healing. What can I do to heal it?

sounds like eczema to me. I'm assuming you want natural alternatives to steroid cream?

You could try diluted tea tree oil or diluted apple cider vinegar.

If it is eczema - you need to treat the underlying cause. Rubbing stuff on it will only provide temporary relief in my expreienec and it may keep recurring. I know for my DS, his eczema (and yes he got the cracks/crusties behind he ears alot) was caused by underlying allergies. Once we resolved those, the eczema got better and stopped coming back.

But just there? I dont have bad skin anywhere else but the one earlobe. Hmm. I will try the ACV as I have some.

I get the same thing and it is eczema.  The only thing that cleared it up was finding the culprit in my diet.  It was gluten.  When I went off of it (doing the hcg diet actually), it cleared up.  Once I added it back to my diet (because I got pregnant and was craving it), it came back fiercely.

My 7yo ds gets the same thing periodically. It is eczema. While he has had patches of eczema on other parts of his body over the years, those were rare. I can't even remember the last time he had eczema anywhere other than his earlobes. We don't do anything. He says it doesn't bother him and he doesn't like to put stuff on his skin. It does go away eventually.

If its eczema, I blame my Crohns medication. Dont get me wrong the medication has brought me back from a severe flare, with so far minimal side effects, but I blame my meds. Its biologic therapy and it consists of hybridized human and mouse antibodies. Creepy and gross I know, and although the human part does a pretty good job fooling my body, I do think that in some ways my body knows its foreign.
