keifer grains from bought keifer?

our keifer grains got baked in the oven (accidently) a while back and I'm looking to replace but can't find any yet. we have a great local keifer producer but very expensive for daily use. i tried culturing milk with it and it is keifery-yogurty but no grains. anyone make this work before?

grains cannot be made from kefir. Ever. You will need to acquire some new ones.
Ask on your local Craigslist. You might be surprised at all the responses!
