*UPDATE* She's okay. Dh came home to check her out, and she's had a nap. We've had her unofficially checked out by a (qualified) friend, and she's okay. Whew. You know that thread about the baby proofing? Well, don't underestimate how fast they can be and how fast an accident can happen. I was seriously RIGHT THERE. Crazy...*
Â
Allright. Sign me up for the horrible mama of the year award. I was sitting on the floor by the baby, by the outlet. I had just unplugged the fan because she tries to put her fingers in it. It was off, but she always plays with the cord, too. So, I unplugged it. She was playing with the register, feeling the air come out, and stood up using the wall for support. When she did, her finger went in the socket. I couldn't believe it. I was right there! And the bottom outlet DID have a protector in it, and the top one was about to! Ahh! She's 8.5mo, btw.
Â
She screamed and cried. I snatched her up and she cried for a while, and she had goosebumps on at least the left side of her body. I didn't look at the right. Her thumb is red on the left hand, but doesn't seem to be actually burned. She lets me touch it, etc, and doesn't even flinch.
Â
She seems okay now...and she cried for less than a minute. Her breathing, etc are okay. Her heart rate may have been a little fast, but no faster than I would expect from a baby who had been crying like that.Â
Â
Should I take her to the doctor?Â
Â
Any advice?

I didn't go to a doctor though. I just layed down for a few hours and felt fine afterwards. Sure hope your baby isn't too terribly traumatized and that she's really ok.
