Any cycling mamas?

I'm a noob myself. Dh is into both road & mountain biking. He built a bike specially for me & fitted it. We went riding this week - my second time riding with him, first time on my special new bike. It was okay but still not terribly comfortable on the booty so I'm wondering what's wrong with my body mechanics.

Yeah, I find you kind of have to work you body into finding a seat comfy.  I have a nice female cut-out seat (i'm sure there's a proper name for it)  It's leather and seems like it would be hard and sore but truthfully I find those huge cushy gel seats are much more sore in the long run.  The leather with cut outs takes the pressure off really sore bits and gradually forms to your body

I like the Terry Falcon X saddle.  Found a picture and it looks like the one I have

Good Luck

Hubby got me a pretty female seat but it just kept being so uncomfortable. He switched it for a little bit wider one this week & it really seems to have made a big difference.

I have a Terry seat as well. I also wear a pair of padded cycling undies under my cycling shorts. The double padding helps quite a bit.
I also recommend going to a bike shop where they do professional fittings. Often times the saddle angle can make a huge difference, especially for women. Not a lot of guys know how to adjust a saddle for women.

It seemed like they still made me hurt, just in different places. I went & got my butt measured & talked with one of the female employees at one of our big cycling shops because whatever was going on was just not normal. She picked out a couple of potential saddles for me to try that are a little flatter than the one's I'd had before, where the back of it had a little slope upward. I haven't been feeling very well this week so I haven't had a chance to try it out yet but I ended up with a body geometry one. She said if this one hurts after about 10 miles then I can bring it back within 30 days as long as it's in good condition. If I take this one back then I think the next choice she recommended might have been a Terry but I can't remember exactly.

She also talked with dh a bit about some differences specific to women. We just stopped by while we were out & about so I didn't have my bike with me that day but if this saddle has to go back then we're taking the bike along too.

So I did go back & get a Terry Butterfly. Much better. I also got a shorter stem. The cycling dude said it's the shortest stem that can go on there & that it should make a big difference but if I still hate it I might need to go for a little shorter frame. It's been so much better that I'm giving this a chance for a while. I'm actually riding a 21 mile event (which is long for me since I'm such a newb) in like 3 weeks. I suppose it will probably take me about the same length of time it takes dh to do the 63 mile, lol!

good for you for getting a more comfortable set-up. I do not cycle specifically for exercise but I commute by bike and pretty much use it every day.

I have a friend that swears by Terry. I have an adamo seat that I love. The most important thing IMO is good chamois and good butt'r :)

Let us know how your event goes!!
