stomach nausea with laying on your back

Hi, i just have a question for the pregnant or were pregnant mommys out there, im about 18 weeks pregnant and when i lay on my back after a bit my stomach hurts and ill become nauseated. is this serious? has anyone else had this? if so what was the cause? haha sorry for the 20 questions but since ive been pregnant my ob has diagnosed me with anxiety and some stress disorder. so i freak about everything in a nut shell lol. but advice and suport would be great. thanks!!

Totally normal.  When you lie on your back your uterus is compressing your inferior vena cava (big vein that brings blood from your body back to your heart).  Blood is pooling in your lower body and you are reducing the oxygen supply to your tissues.  In general it's not a good idea to lie on your back for extended periods of time in the later stages of pregnancy.
