Looking for prenatal caregiver and pediatrician in Springfield IL

Thread Starter

I am looking for a prenatal caregiver who can continue to be our pediatrician after birth and who is supportive of delayed/selective vaccines, natural birth, and attachment parenting.  I am looking for a doctor who respects my choices and supports me even if they don't agree with me.  Anyone else in Springfield, IL with some recommendations???

I too would like to see if you'd found anyone. It would be worth the drive if there is such a doctor out there.

We lived in Springfield for three years, and moved away a little over a year ago.  I really liked our Springfield Clinic pediatrician, Terry Jones.  We do vax, so not sure how he would stand on that, but I found him to be very laid-back, supportive of breastfeeding and wasn't too worried about sleeping arrangements, etc...  My boys are intact, and he never retracted them or acted like they were in any way unusual (and in Springfield, they were not in the majority as intact boys).  One of my boys has food allergies, the other has fairly severe ADHD.  Dr. Jones was respectful of my concerns and wished regarding their treatments, and facilitated me in following up with specialists to help them, as I chose. He was very supportive of extended breastfeeding, and once jokingly commented in front of my MIL (who was at an appointment with me and my food-allergic baby) that we'd be doing great if I continued to bf him until high school.  It was a positive comment, though could be misconstrued written out here-- it was meant to assure my MIL that extended bf was a GOOD thing, and by far the best for my son.  It was nice to have him cut off her comments even before they started!  My MIL was suspicious my my odd diet--I had to avoid all his allergens, and she didn't get it.

Good luck in finding someone you click with!

Oops, I reread the OP, and I see that you were looking for a prenatal caregiver, and my post won't help with that.  But if you need a pediatrician..
