Breastfeeding... If it's not one thing, it's another. A while back my son started biting HARD and it made it hard for my body to produce milk because it was scary to nurse there for a while. We got that worked out, but my supply hasn't really been strong since. At this point, my son, who will be one on Saturday, will only nurse for a minute or two on each side--as long as the milk is flowing rapidly. As soon as he has to suck a few times between each swallow, he loses interest and it's killing my milk supply since he won't drain the breast. He pulls off or kicks and squirms, he yanks on my nipple, he gets into a crawling position and rocks, he grabs my face, etc. If I try to hold him still and get him to focus, he pulls off and screams. Soothing things like petting and singing to him have no effect. I'm in favor of baby led weaning and have been practicing baby led solids with him. I'd hoped to nurse him well into toddlerhood (2yrs or so), but now it just seems like it's not going to happen. I've been drinking Mother's Milk tea religiously and it seems to be keeping me from losing my milk but doesn't seem to be helping me meet the demand. I let my son nurse whenever he wants, which is usually upon waking in the morning and from naps, and right before bed (4 times a day) but often there are maybe two other nursings in there somewhere too. I don't know if I should just throw in the towel and let him wean or if there are other ideas and options. Are there better milk supply enhancers than Mother's Milk tea? Maybe I should try to nurse him twice as often even if he's kinda rejecting it? Maybe I should just follow his lead and let him have his 4 short nursings and be content with it? I don't know. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Bump.
I'm kind of in the same boat. My 12mo nurses about 4 times a day (sometimes a bit more), but that's with me offering A LOT and some of those nursing "sessions" are just a few sucks. I kind of feel like if I just did "don't offer, don't refuse" she would probably wean, or at least cut back to twice a day, and she is so tiny - she's just a little bitty baby!
